A continuation of a post that I made in the wrong thread.

People that I am sick of seeing & hearing about:

Sofia Vergara--rant previously posted. Please go away & take your exaggerated accent with you.
Taylor Swift--If she was overweight & unattractive she'd be Taylor who?.
    Kardashian--Any of them.
J.J. Watt--I can understand JJ raking in the endorsement money because one serious injury could end his footbal career, & he seems like a genuinely nice guy. But I'm also sick of seeing him in commercials ad nauseam when I watch football on TV.
Mattress Mac--Many of you won't understand this one, and for that you should be thankful. He's a horrible pitchman (which unfortunately has become his trademark), but for some reason people here love him. I'll give him credit for some of his philanthropy, but he really needs to let his daughter(s) pitch his furniture stores.

I just realized that out of the two industry events I paid to attend this year, I've been able to attend zero of them. I've been too busy.

I've heard of Taylor Swift -- she's a singer or supermodel or something, I think. Blonde?

I really dislike the fad for giving girls names like "Taylor" and "Madison". But I think fad names for children are a bad idea to begin with.

I see the surname Kardashian used as a synonym for tacky self-promotion, but I don't know how that got started -- some reality show maybe? I'm guessing it's an Armenian name.

There's a joke that more people have been married to Kim Kardashian than have contracted Ebola in the United States. So, presumably Kim Kardashian has been married enough times to be notable for that alone.

Other than that, I don't know these people at all. I couldn't pick any of them out of a line-up.

I'll take your word that they're annoying, so I'm not going to bother Googling them.

Day two of my @ZomebieSquirrel experience. Fortunately, today I am not physically near the people who are annoying me. Should save on bail money that way.

  5. See. Coworkers can be awful. The bad ones are inescapable. I've only ever worked one place, post college, where I didn't want to stab someone in the eye with a pair of scissors.

What I hate most is needing to state the obvious solutions for problems to people that I firmly believe are reasonably intelligent.

You knew that was the only reasonable course of action. Why do I have to tell you as much?

    Tell me more.
Currently, we're between Colorado and Oregon for next year. Boulder dropped 40 degrees on 4 hours yesterday and ended up under a blanket of snow. I can do freezing rain...

I'd rather have snow than freezing rain.
In my house freezing rain is called oobleck from the Dr. Seuss book, Bartholomew and the Oobleck.

  11. It has been so nice lately. A bit chilly, but no rain. I HATE WILLAMETTE VALLEY WINTERS.

So...40 pages here, 430 pages there, plus an expected wildcard: It's crunch time.

That's easy--They can blame you if the obvious course of action goes wrong.

Some people are simply scared to make a decision. It might be their nature, and/or they might work for a boss who forgets/ignores the 99 things they did right but harps on the one thing they did wrong. Those are the bosses who need to be gut stabbed with scissors, and left to slowly & painfully bleed out.

I'm guessing that you watch very little TV, & pay no attention to the "celebrity" news that pops up on the net. I would make a negative comment on the names one of my nieces chose for her children, but I'd be accused of being racist.

    I fucking called it.

The same day a 430-page (late, very late) project drops in my inbox, the "wildcard" rears its ugly head in the form of 8.5 hours' worth of editing convoluted reports on top of this really boring non-fiction book I'm trying to finish by Saturday. All of this shit needs to be done before the weekend is over. Something's gotta give, and unfortunately it's gotta be the late, very late, project.

It might be done by Wednesday.

A very similar situation happened at the end of August, and it's complete bullshit because both happened despite my best efforts to avoid/prevent it. They happened as a result of one or two people not doing what they promised to do by the time they promised to do it.

    Fuck it. This sucks.

I'm only here right now for a few minutes to vent.

    Fuck this.

    Outie, biatches.

    I'm pissed.
And now I'm trying to do something about it.

My company lied to me...the contract I was on for the Dept. of Treasury is over.
Even after I asked them multiple times, how long the contract is.
They answered 3 years...well, it turns out they may have 3 years...but my role for this project was 3 months.

Now, fortunately...I did such a good job with the client, getting them in there and representing the company...they're keeping me "on the bench" until they figure out what other project to put me on.
Well, this pays the bills...but doesn't make me feel warm & fuzzy.
I don't stay with unethical businesses.

So, I'm putting myself out there...even while the biz covers me. (two can play that game...)
Fortunately, it's a hot market...so even in a few days time, I've got a lot of potentials.

I hate it when companies treat their employees with contempt...and lie to them.
    Homie don't play that.

So it's clear that if that if you hadn't been as good as you were that they would have just cut you at 3 months?
    Damn, that's cold.
Doesn't sound like you owe them anything and it seems like the minute you're not the flavor of the week you'll be gone.

Sorry to hear that you got stuck with such smegheads.
Hope you find some people with integrity next time.
