Once again I ate at the restaurant after work. The allowance they have for cooks who work enough hours during that day is enough for a very decent meal. In the past week I have tried more sit down restaurant food than I have in 6 months in not more like a year.

Last night was leftover beef roast. My wife steamed fresh carrots, and I sauteed/stir fried green cabbage with marg, onions, garlic, salt & pepper.

On a related note.....the latch that holds our oven door open for broiling and stops the door from suddenly dropping down has either broken or slipped off. It's a built-in oven that will need to be completely removed from the wall in order to pull the cover to see what happened to the latch. The oven is OK for baking, but it sucks because we do a lot of broiling.

Ordered my employee meal for dinner (technically breakfast and lunch as well, used to skipping one if not two meals any given day) and had to prepare it myself. Slightly extra portions here we come. Would have complained slightly about the bacon not being crispy enough due to impatience but the cook was too busy eating the meal.

Pinto beans seasoned with onions, garlic, cumin, salt, & brown sugar cured thick sliced bacon (we didn't have a ham bone). Along with tacos made with ground turkey instead of beef.

Edit--No tacos, my wife offered to make cornbread (from scatch).

Took my homemade red meat sauce from this weekend, added leeks, asparagus, garlic, mushrooms, artichoke hearts, and black olives... Served with baked bone-in, skin-on (but removed after cooking) chicken breast and over sweet potato starch vermicelli.

Last night was homemade chicken noodle soup. The receipe we use calls for boneless chicken breast, skin on. We use a whole chicken, cut up, in order to render as much stock as possible. The prepared stock we added was organic & reduced sodium. It's the most 'chickeny' chicken noodle soup that I've ever had.

That sounds way better than using boneless breasts. White meat isn't nearly as flavorful as dark, and bones are important to stock.

Our dinner: curry rice! Already made, as I put half of the curry into hand pies.

    Mmmmm......curry!

I wasn't thinking and took out chicken breast for dinner tonight. I'll see if my wife is willing to cook it with either dijon mustard sauce or curry sauce (I'll push for curry).

It wasn't goo but it was barbecue ribs.
Service wasn't so great but the food was good.

And I highly recommend the movie.
