  1. Need you to join the ranks. We lost a great in Jack Bruce today. He was one of my early inspirations. Wish I could play and sing so well.

Crazy thing is I was just noodling around on a part of the bass line for "Sunshine of Your Love" on Thursday night as I was over at a friend's place to pick up her bass to bring home to practice up.

I've always had an affinity for bass (I played it in grade school and high school), but I never really pursued it because most of my guitar playing has been solo. I suppose if I get good enough on bass, people will find a reason to play with me, right?

I've only had the thing for a couple of days. It's dangerous. I might already be in the process of joining the ranks.

I started playing bass in my high school orchestra, then in university. I've played in a jazz trio, a Western Swing band, and I've played as an accompaniment to poetry reading. Opposite to a lot of bassists, I read well but don't improvise well.:( A competent bass player, electric or upright, can always find a gig.
Here's the "inside story" of my bass, a 5/8 size John Juzek "ladies bass" from 1964. Not really mine, but a great picture. 1308351257269284.jpg 1308351257269284.jpg

My wife and daughter finally broke me down and I consented to getting us a new dog.

Lucy has been with us for about three weeks now. She's a real sweetheart.

I just realized that when I start my temp position in a month, my husband and I can commute together. At first, it didn't seem like his work is on the way, but it actually is. Stopping to drop him off only adds 5 minutes.

Knowing us, there will not be a lot of conversation in the morning. In the afternoon, I'll have a twenty minute ride from my new workplace to his before I pick him up.

Is this 30 Rock show decent by current standards? I see it listed on the netflix instant steaming library but never have watched it....On that note, off to watch the next Walking Dead episode to see what the Governor does next. I anticipate this dreadful prison set dying a loud and violent death which should be exciting to see.
Just added Pulp Fiction to the instant que, might get around to watching that one of these days. The trailer and brief snippets I have seen failed to catch my interest, but you can really tell from those.

    Shawarma

    From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Shawarma or Shawurma (Arabic: شاورما‎ / ALA-LC: shāwarmā;) is a Levantine Arab meat preparation, where lamb, chicken, turkey, beef, veal, or mixed meats are placed on a spit (commonly a vertical spit in restaurants), and may be grilled for as long as a day. Shavings are cut off the block of meat for serving, and the remainder of the block of meat is kept heated on the rotating spit. Although it can be served in shavings on a plate (generally with accompaniments), shawarma also refers to a sandwich or wrap made with shawarma meat. Shawarma is usually eaten with tabbouleh, fattoush, taboon bread, tomato, and cucumber. Toppings include tahini, hummus, pickled turnips and amba. It is akin to the Turkish doner kebab and the Greek gyros. A related Armenian dish is tarna 'to turn'.

30 Rock had some great moments.
It wasn't a perfect show I'd say it's worth the time.
Not sure how well it will hold up say ten years from now but it's going to be funny now.

Sounds like a period piece/time capsule for the era it first ran. Much like McMillan and Wife which captures the early 1970's very well with the clothes/hair/etc, or either television version of Dragnet which does the for the early/mid 50's and late 60's respectively. 'Tis a shame that Jack died of his heart attack before anything was filmed on the third television series in 1982, I would have liked to see how that would have turned out in that decade.

I watched 30 Rock when it first started because it was quirky and different. For me it got old after a couple of seasons.

I like Pulp Fiction, even bought the DVD (used, dirt cheap ). And FWIW I'm definately not a fan of Bruce Willis and John Travolta, I usually avoid their movies even if the plot sounds interesting. "Ha, ha, ha. They're your clothes, motherfucker."

"I thought you said they were in love. Then why are they shouting at each other?"
"That's all people do when they're in love. Don't you know anything?"

Back to Back doubles are the bestest ever!!
But after pulling 90+ hour weeks for way too long not that far back I can't find any reason to waste the breath on useless "complaining".
