Born and raised Pacific Northwest, I have been in the Inland Northwest* for 11 years now.

*which means 'middle of nowhere Eastern Washington/Northern Idaho'.

And quiet. This area doesn't know what "traffic" means, and even Spokane isn't that bad after learning to drive in Salem and Portland umpteen years ago.

This is a lovely area for photography. I still generally hate snow and miss the 'maybe 2-3 days and no more than 2 inches all winter' you get in the Willamette Valley, but it makes for wonderful pictures.

Those rolling hills and fields in your neck of the woods sure are beautiful. Recently, my husband saw a picture of Palouse Falls and decided we're going there next summer. I agreed so long as we also go to Spokane for some beer tasting at No-Li and Orlison, and to Walla Walla for some wine.

I have to admit my eyes were glazed over for much of the discussion.

Palouse Falls is a two drive for me. I do plan on making that drive one of these days; I will definitely need some good film for that trip.

Alrighty then, watching World War Z via Netflix. My opening thoughts (may not finish this tonight or soon, we shall see)
    - Good marriage of popcorn action and zombie flick. The first 20 minutes alone are not that "good" but if it keeps the weak summer flick bubblegum feel it opens with then it works on that level well enough. Too many coincidences already, no doubt that will get worse as it proceeds. I would kill off one the daughters near the end if I wrote the screenplay for something like this, but I strongly suspect the hero will prevail at the end and save everyone in his family.
    - I saw something online that said the 12th Doctor is in this film so that alone might motivate to watch more.
    - This fast pace helps you not dwell on the barely passable story or uninteresting characters.
    - The running zombies work here. I still prefer the more classical George Romero / Walking Dead style, but for this type of fluff it is better

Most importantly - I have not read the book. More than likely this film is a forgettable stinker unless it improves dramatically (not expecting it to so far), and the source material by Mel's son is actually good or at least memorable in a positive way.

The book was infinitely better when viewed as a pair. Fails as a conversion to a movie from a book.
That said, independently, the movie was pretty damn good. The new show, Z Nation, reminds me of a comedic version. Zombienado!

I came up with a theme for my Friday night plans. Take "Hot Stuff" by Donna Summers and sub in "butt sex." It's pretty catchy.

I keep seeing wedding photos where everyone but the bride is in black. This "Black and White" theme trend is out of control. It looks like a funeral. Color, people! Color!!
