No idea, didn't witness it firsthand thankfully. Looks like a nice path, though!

As I stated in the July 4th thread...biked all the way in and out of DC.
Hour one way...Hour and half the other...but the 2nd one I had to go from the other side of the city through hordes of people after the fireworks.

Man, that was literally dizzying weaving in & out of many random walkers in the dark. (with the streetlights shining in the foreground)
Too many things to keep track of with my eyes.
(having dry contacts didn't help...although I wet them, still the wind was blowing...couldn't wear my shades either to assist)
Didn't hit anyone...although they did their best to try.

And now that I've got my bike in gear again, I'll be a riding fool.

Maybe I'll do it to go to the gym and back...just need to make sure I don't tighten up my legs too much on those days.
I'll have to measure the distance, my typical highway route to Gold's may be illusionary short by comparison.

DAKA DOING VERY NICELY, THANK YOU

Buying used bikes from Craigs List....
I tried that, unfortunately in any but a small town they are all over the place and often get sold between the time you call and get there if they are at all reasonably priced and in good condition...so I gave up on that.
There are so many bike shops these days, they generally have a few used bikes "in the back" , good thing is that they will usually give the bike a quick check over...I bought a 10 year old JAMIS DAKOTA AL that was over $900 in their 2004 catalog for $100...bonus was it is VERY light, and they even put a new tire on the front for me....
Just stop at every bike shop you pass, also the Pawn shops have used bikes....never mind their ASKING price on the label, you can usually get at least 30% off that price
Now if it would stop raining every day here in south FL, (it's the rainy season jerk) I'll be riding

If you don't follow bike racing—which is usually the case—here's one thing you missed at the Tour today:

This is a picture of my latest purchase.
It should do well for winter riding, especially when I get studs in those tires.

    Nice!
I have been thinking about one of those for a few years. I'm afraid it will kill me to ride up our huge hill though.

I'm so excited! My bike is waiting for me back home, and my in-laws, who were storing our bikes, got my hubs' bike all fixed up for him (his rear wheel had to be replaced). Our new apartment is right on a bike path that goes downtown. I'm a fan of that as I don't like to bike in traffic even with a bike lane.

Moscow is a good area for cycling. The Chipman Trail runs on a flat trail that is the old railroad line for I think 25 miles (don't care to look it up) at this point from Pullman to Deary I believe. I however prefer to walk these days and look at my bike with the "I should use you one of these days but that is not likely to happen anytime soon" glances.

My brother (retired Orthopedic surgeon) just had a VASOVAGAL attack....having just finished dinner at a diner, he and my SIL were waiting to pay....SIL in front of him she heard a thud, turns around and he is on the floor....bashed his head, face a mess, concussion, a week later still in hospital, but will recover....
So, what is the conclusion I dunno....
Live each day to the fullest.....you young un's don't have a clue....

I've got my bike back. It's locked up outside of our apartment. It's covered parking, which is nice. I'm excited to ride it, but today is too hot. Maybe tomorrow I'll go early enough to not die from the heat.

I've done some short rides recently since getting my bike back. I keep thinking I'll ride to work (there is a path the whole way) but I need to find my rainpants and pant strap, as I'm positive my trousers will get all kinds of tangled up in my chain and then subsequently ripped to shreds.

    Roll 'em up.

Oh, and get fenders if you don't already have 'em.

The way they're cut makes it too loose for that; they come unrolled. And yeah, I have fenders--it's Oregon :)

Bikes are so much cheaper in London than Singapore.

I must not spend money. I must not spend money.
