My flight to Ft Lauderdale got cancelled and I had to pay $400 for another flight on another airline that gets me into Miami at 9am, an hour away from the dissertation defense site. So I'll arrive, Universe willing, two hours before I'm on deck. Jesus. I haven't cried this much in a long time. I'm actually dehydrated. I really hope the bathtub is clean. The toilet is running every 20 seconds. Fuck this. I miss my husband and my sanity.

Well, THIS is certainly a bummer-

I knew I wasn't getting laid this weekend (as usual) but for some reason (nostalgia, I guess) I decided to check the condom inventory.

I blew the inch-thick layer of dust off the box, and counted 6 had been used out of 30, the last time having been October of 2013...

...and then I checked the expiration date to find everything had expired already.

I guess that's really it, then. I'd say it was a good run, but... shit- it wasn't even old enough to get into a PG-13 movie!

...thus endeth another chapter in the "My Life Sucks" book.

On an unrelated note, I'm trying to make a resolution that the next 1,000 posts should be less focused on self-pity from now on.

I promise I didn't like this because it's so sad, it's because of the font you used on the gravestone.

    Yeah, that's it the font.

Two things; One, hardwood floors in an apartment building are a bad idea.
They may look really nice but unless there is some serious insulation between floors they make life difficult for the people on the bottom floor.

Second, anyone who lives in a second floor apartment and gives their kid a hard rubber ball to play with should be put in stocks and have rotten fruit thrown at them.

I think I know the problem with what's going on in the nation and world.
Everyone is more into their own...rather than solving the issue for all.

Leaders are more worried about their own power, influence, seat and CYA...than solving and implementing the solutions for their citizens and region.
Media is more interested in headlines, asking questions, creating controversy...than solving and pushing for the solutions. (although I have to give credit to the NYT for taking a stand on pot)
People are more interested in complaining and blaming...than pushing for the solutions from their representatives ...and even pushing for fixes on their own.

I think it's time to take a stand.
Do something for good...not just bitching and posturing.

Ask yourself, have you done some good lately???
Ask your reps & leaders...have you held them accountable for actually doing something. (or is it just the blame game)
Ask yourself...do you read/watch the media that is tabloid & alarmist...just asking questions...or are they actually getting to the root of the problem and pushing for a fix.

I hate shouting just to target someone. Bitching just to bitch.
I want to do something useful.
And I want my leaders to do something good for us.
And I want my media that I read...to give the real deal...then push for the real deal.

Because just screaming at each other in the life boat isn't going to do anything.
    You've got to row first.
And you should try to know where you're rowing.
And you should cooperate on the direction.

Wife & I are going to meet Bitch SIL to go over their father's will. It wouldn't be so bad except that she loves to talk about herself ad nauseam. Over the last few days she has mentioned several times to my wife (not to my face), "FILname didn't like Chris." That's actually old news.

Here's some new news, bitch, which you and the other siblings would know if you had bothered to visit your parents in the last six years: I was the one who visited he & my MIL most often, took him to his doctor's appointments, visited him during his numerous hospital stays, etc. Take a wild guess whose name he said when the caregivers at the facility told him he had visitors.

Update: The meeting went much better than expected. Everything of my FIL's goes to my MIL, and my wife is the excutrix of her will.

The B&C aspect is we have to contact many agencies & institutions to get various accounts switched to my MIL's name.

@redravin, I'm guessing that you might have gone through something similar.

  13. Midday Tuesday...waiting for something to go RIGHT.
Too much shit to list. Between the effects of yesterday's 6 inches of rain, everyone apparently leaving their brains at home this morning and fucked up orders by an employee fired a week ago, I am fed up.

Yes, there are a lot of little details you have to look after.
The circumstances are different but try to make sure the bill collectors don't start coming after your MIL for anything that was in your FILs name.
They really are sharks and the phones calls start just days after.

It's a good thing she has you guys in her corner, I can't imagine what it would be like if she had to handle this on her own.
    Best wishes to you.

  15. Used a sick day today, boss still called me and passive aggressively added more to the scope of my project.
Her: "We need this done by Friday"
Me: "ok, but I'm sick right now so..."
Her: "Oh I know, hope you feel better. Now we need to add this...."

Those bombs aren't going to drop themselves, and as this reminds us:

There is no sacrifice greater than somebody else's, and anything not in 'Merica where they speak those funny languages can be written off as collateral damage if we kill terrorists in the process.

I hate that it takes a celebrity's death to remind people that a mental illness (or physical illness, for that matter) is important to pay attention to.
Sensationalizing things in the media doesn't make it any better. Humor is often a shield for the darker, sadder parts of life.
    Hug your loved ones.

It's ALWAYS like this. If I have one more person tell me to just "cheer up!" I'm going to take an axe and split them in half. There's something wrong in my brain. It's not a choice for me to be depressed, it's the way my brain is wired. Why can't you fucking understand that? GAH!

Ugh. We were expecting two paychecks over the next two days--one from the last place of employment and one from the new place. The last place of employment's check is not there. It should be, given that it posts at midnight. WTF. I'm already irritated that we had to wait for payday for that check; the laws between Oregon and Washington are different in that Oregon requires a final paycheck be issued within one business day of an employee's last day worked, whereas Washington says it's fine to issue it on the regular payday. Well, it's the regular payday, and it's not there.
