Pointless Announcements

I took myself to the zoo.
And saw the baby effalump.

 

This afternoon, I'm going to a soccer match.

It's the first one I have ever attended.

Manchester United is playing Real Madrid.

Nothing like starting at the top.

 

Elephants always look sad to me. I guess because whenever I see one, Mr. Snuffleupagus comes to mind.

 

Those aren't invisble to everyone except the bird with an overact pituitary gland though, and a child-like mind. Now that I think about it maybe Big Bird was born in Calla Bryn Sturgis as part of a set of twins. (May not much to you if you are not familiar with The Dark Tower series, I actually had to look up the specific village name as I remembered the details but not that part)

 

People are stupid and there's nothing you can do about it.....that is all...

 

I'm so disappointed in my social life. Every time I go to Columbus I have to carefully create a schedule to see all the people I want to see and do all the things I get invited to. But here in the boonies? No invites, no responses when I ask people if they'd like to go to X event or place with me. Not sure it will be any different *in* Cincinnati, which makes me really want to move back to Columbus regardless of whether the job actually is a better fit or not. SIGH.

Update: I received a zombie garden gnome as a housewarming gift. Righteous.

 

This afternoon, I was part of the largest audience for a soccer game in U.S. history -- more than 109,000 people.

Manchester United defeated Real Madrid, 3-1.

People around me were supporting Madrid, which put them in the minority in today's audience.

Most of the Manchester supporters wore red shirts. This stadium had probably never seen so many red outfits.

I don't know much about soccer, but I did notice that the Manchester goalkeeper frequently kicked the ball way over everyone's heads to the other half of the field, or, I guess, the "pitch." The Madrid goalkeeper never did that.

By special arrangement, almost unheard of here, alcoholic beverages were available in the stadium. A pint of Guinness cost $10.

 

Steep but worth every penny.

 

Yeah, I had one.

 

I got to hang out with some bumblebees today. It was pretty awesome.
