@Plan9 is the reason people form HOAs. :p

People like my BIL are why people form HOAs. When we mentioned which complex we were moving into back home, he went off about how much he hated living there. I quickly figured out why. GASP. There were rules! He apparently got busted for patio violations a couple times while living there, and it's a $50 fine each time. We've lived in a complex managed by the same company for the last three months, and have had zero issues despite being right next to the office, so I think we'll be fine.

    @Plan9 IS your HOA.
he also might be Satan Claus... He sees you when you're sleeping, he knows when you're awake... He knows who's armed and who is not, so be nice for goodness' sake....

Yeah, they form HOAs so I can get on the board and steer the common sense ship away from the rocky shores of idiocy.

My first mission will be to talk to them about the 96 gallon trash cans we were all issued. Who the fuck needs that?

Oh great. My "working days and nights until next Tuesday" has added a "plus an all-nighter or two."

I'll see you guys next week.

HOAs and common sense in the same sentence? Really?

At least the garbage cans are all color coordinated. One of your neighbors would be using a 55 gallon drum (and burning in it), if there wasn't an HOA.

    I can make it happen.

Yeah, that kind of everything-is-uniform crap but nobody actually looks at the thing to see if it makes sense. It would take my old lady and I roughly a month to generate enough trash to fill the can once. And they pick up twice a week. It's stupid.

You could cut the thing in half and use it for the body of a pretty big soapbox derby racer two-seater. It's ginormous.

Can you request a smaller size can from your waste service provider? We did that. Our last can was 35 gallons. We only filled it half-full. Our recycling can was 64 gallons, comingled, and we regularly filled that sucker.

  13. DM was supposed to come it to drop the ax today. He took a last minute PTO day instead and left me in the lurch. At the end of the day, I was occupied and the employee to be severed merely punched and waved a "see you Monday" on her way out the door. I have to deal with this person for at least one more day, come Monday. Grrrrrrrr.....

When I first saw that I read it as Dungeon Master which gave 'dropping the ax' a whole different context.
Though there would be some great advantages to being able to get rid of annoying coworkers that way.

  15. Not a lot of difference some days: Dungeon Master::District Manager. If he had given me some notice, I could have had the separation paperwork ready and done the deed myself. As it was, he told me he was going to come in and handle it, then bailed at the last minute.

(he's really not a horrible guy. i've worked with/for him for @27 years. his parents are in their dotage... sweet folks. i only hope that nothing bad has happened with them to cause him to get pulled away at the last minute.)

As for the workplace annoyance, I wish her no harm, just wish she were gone! Nearly six months on the job and she can't consistently perform the customer service stuff, let alone even start to comprehend the inventory, order/return process or delivery dispatch functions. Our wholesale customers don't like/trust her, either. Most calls she fields either ask for me, or simply hang up when they hear her voice. And to think that this woman came to us with a resume of over 30 years in the automotive aftermarket industry. It boggles.

This week, my key guy has been out of town. I have been busting ass to keep it together and a smile on my business. We had a highest weekly sales volume in the 2+ years this store has been open, and I had to handle north of 70% of it personally. One of the things that helped me through was the thought that this failed relationship would be ending. I am unhappy.

Crazy day. Flew up to Oregon. Found a German man's wallet in the seat back in front of me.... Over $900 US in it. Got to Salem 7 hours ahead of my original schedule. Walked in my mom's house and my brother called to inform us his sister in law had a massive heart attack. Gonna be a long night I'd guess.

And yes I turned in the wallet.

Stodgy. That's what my aunt and adult female cousins are. But my cousin's kids are super awesome. Especially the one doing her doctorate in BC. Super-friendly.
That's how it goes in my extended family. If you married someone cool, the in-law spouse is good and the kids are good.
But Geez Louise, if my cousins were any tighter, they'd squeak.

This is the second long weekend in a row that I've worked through. Or is it the third?
