Forty minutes on the phone. I need to recuperate.

Ugh, I hate that. Phone calls are the worst. I can do them, but afterward, I always feel like I need a stiff drink and a nap.

Any time I pass gas in the car when my wife is with me I try to remember to ask 'do you smell popcorn?'

Because that pretty much guarantees that she'll reflexively take a deep sniff before she knows what hit her.

    :p

I also have Windows 7 on my laptop, and have worked with Windows 8 enough on a friend's laptop (MS Bob 2012 as I called it in photoshop thing). My favourite Win OS is Win NT 4.0, with Win 2000 close second - they had rock solid stability and proper security. Windows 7 is decent and runs all of the Adobe Applications I am paying for smoothly and natively but it really is lacking in the interface and ease of use department compared to some of the current Linux options. There are strong personal opinions out there obviously, and I am no exception. I actually like Unity but do not care for Xcfe or for the silly eyecandy in KDE that reminds me more of Windows in a bad way.
My version of Vista is "ok" but my biggest "complaints" on both Vista and 7 are
    0) I only have the 32 bit version of Vista
    1) My win 7 is the crippled home premium, makes me a sad panda when I try to do easy network things that worked beautifully before in NT and Win2k especially like joining a domain. Home premium is the version for people scratching their heads saying "What's a network?" or have never heard of DNS.
edit 2) CLI is dumbed way down
    3) Linux is easier to update/remove software. Why is it a bigger hassle in the expensive option that wants $$$ for every license you have?

(in my own biased opinion) Interfaces like Unity are slick and offer things like multiple workspaces that I seriously wish Windows could offer in their definitely very not free options. On the flip side of that I have no plans on ever un-installing Windows and just going *nix/Linux.

Did one of those buzzfeed things on facebook (not going to spam that on here) about Dr. Who and got these results -
    You got: The First Doctor
You are a mysterious and cantankerous old wizard with two massive secrets: 1) You’re not as frail as you appear, and 2) you care very deeply for your companions. Oh, and you’re an immortal Time Lord from the planet Gallifrey. Okay, you have three massive secrets.

If you mean TFP, yes. I haven't been on much over the last four days, and it seems to have been a slow week.

While I was in the kitchen making breakfast for lunch, I was overhearing the show my SO was watching in the next room. It was one of those home-buying shows that seem to fill up an entire channel's programming. But it was one that wasn't dealing with renos—just buying.

It was a couple planning to have their first child soon. They wanted to buy a house first. They were shown this character home with three bedrooms and three full bathrooms. The realtor was saying how the location was ideal because it was in the city. When the couple asked about the price, the realtor told them it was $275,000. The couple hummed and hawed about how it was a bit out of the price range.

Baraka: Holy shit. What year is that?
    Baraka's SO: It's the States.
Baraka: Oh. You don't want to live there.

I love watching Love It or List It because it's in the GTA. It always cracks me up to see people with small homes in relatively central areas of Toronto balk at the thought of moving to the suburbs. I can't really blame them, though.

The prices for housing where you are are pretty ridiculous, though.

Have you seen the Vancouver edition?

The GTA has a ridiculous amount of urban sprawl. The suburbs are by and large urban (and cultural) wastelands.

    Try Vancouver.

I have not. I don't think they show it here. And I would gladly try Vancouver :p I was just talking to a buddy yesterday about how I would move to Canada in a hot minute.

I'm going to start considering myself a descendant of the Normans. That's less pretentious than saying it's the Vikings.
