To all of you American types on this board, Happy Independence Day!

Non-traditional songs but ones I listen to at this time of year.

Should be a "happy" enough day. I have a swing shift that has double pay for the holiday and should be able to take some type of pictures in the morning.

It was a fun, gorgeous day...perfect.
Parade at Constitution Ave...Concert on Capitol West Lawn...Fireworks with the Washington Monument silhouetted in front of it.

It was relatively cool, found shade to sit under everywhere.
Cuties in short shorts abound. ;)

Biked in from Potomac along the beautiful canal path.
I parked conservatively outward thinking it would be madness that far away, but it wasn't...should have gone in further with my car.

Biking took me an hour to get in...and an hour and a half to get out. (and of course, biking all over otherwise)
Oi Vey, my body is worn today.

But bonus, got to see the Degas & Cassatt exhibit at the Smithsonian...very interesting.

If I was going to do it next time, I'd park closer.
Skip the concert...and the 5 hour wait for it to start. (Gates let in at 3, Concert starts at 8 and lasts only an 1) ...and those cannons they shoot off are LOUD.
Take a stroll around the art galleries a bit more
See the fireworks a bit more near the Washington Monument near the Ellipse & the White House.
    and bring my mini-binoculars too

But biking is the way to go to get around...just have to avoid the hordes of randomly walking people at the end...at very great challenge.
Damn idiots are not even looking where they're walking sometimes...looking at their texting.

Actually, it was interesting how many foreigners were there at the festivities.
And how a few Americans get a "a bit" overly enthusiastic...geez.

For me, it was fun to people watch...just tons to see and observe the dynamics.
And give advice to tourists. :)
