    Seriously. I told my husband that if my MIL went to somewhere like say, Chicago, she would lose it. Portland, for the most part, IS a safe, squeaky-clean upscale city. It has changed a lot since I lived in its suburbs as a teenager. Most of the sketchy parts aren't actually in what people would consider Portland proper anymore; they're out in outer SE and in the burbs. NE was totally sketch 10 years ago, and now it's got some very nice, rapidly gentrifying neighborhoods (see: Boise, Portland, Oregon - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia).

    Just finished Series 1 of Lost - that was explosive on several levels. Knowing there are more 5 series to go in this show makes me curious what happens next. Fortunately everyone is expendable in something like this, and good to see the fellow living in the hatch has a decent selection of vinyls to listen to.

    My quick searches indicate it might mean "home body," loosely. In L'Amour's useage, it sounds like the master is up & moving about keeping an eye on the camp, rather than staying in his tent.

    I wondered that too. Typos do happen. If that's the case, it means someone who holds out until the bitter end, which would make sense considering that he apparently used to be someone who stayed up to sing songs and drink ale loudly.
