  1. I will be flying with BabySquirrel in November. She will be 10 months old when we fly. I was told to feed her during take off, because that will help with the pressure. We will do other things to make sure she's as quiet as possible. Portland to Cincinnati is not a fun trip. (Cincinnati to Portland is actually better, IMO)

I know people have to travel with their babies and are doing the best they can.
It would be nice if the airlines could offer noise cancelling headphones even to rent as a result.

I hate drivers in this city.

I come to a red light. One person going the opposite direction parallel to me tried to go through the intersection but there was a back up of cars so he gets stuck in the intersection. The people who now have the green light are on a 2-lane 1-way street coming from my right, the lane furthest from me is able to squeeze around behind this car that's in the intersection but in the lane closest to me is a truck that sees the car stuck in the intersection, he stops, but then inches forward, right in front of me. He keeps inching, getting closer and closer to this little car that I can now see is driven by an old man who is clearly uncomfortable and regretting his decision to try to go through the intersection but there's no where he can go now. The truck keeps getting closer to him until he's almost touching the little car (clearly trying to intimidate him), and he is directly in front of me, perpendicular to me. Of course, his light turns red, mine turns green, and there's absolutely no where I can go. He's waving his arms at the car blocking his way and i'm thinking WTF DUDE, you just did the same exact thing! There's tons of room behind him so I motion for him to back the fuck up, and he looks at me like "it's not my fault, it's this jack ass in front of me". OMG STUPID PEOPLE. JUST BACK THE FUCK UP THERES NO ONE BEHIND YOU. He wasted my whole green light. And to top it all off, the car behind starts to beep his horn. Thanks dude, we really needed that.

Also, yesterday I saw someone driving ahead of me roll down their window and throw a large styrofoam out. Disgusting. :(

My best guy friend was going to come up and watch the game with me, sent in a vacation time request, and then last night got an email saying that no IT people could take vacation right now, as it was a "busy time." He rolls into work this morning to find out his direct supervisor had approved his request regardless.

:( I'm glad that he'll at least get to watch. I wish we could watch together, though.

Tried to go to the DMV this morning to get new tags for the car before June is up. The line was ludicrously long and my husband only had half an hour in which he could do it. I guess I'm going back there on my lonesome on Monday to get it taken care of.

I let him drive and I regret it. He is seriously one of the worst drivers in the world. We almost got killed by a drifting semi because he refused to either get past the semi or stop, and he was already going too fast for the weather conditions. He made a sudden lane change just before trying to halfheartedly pass the semi, which meant, of course, that the semi couldn't see us. He doesn't believe me that his driving choices are downright scary. He speeds up at arbitrary times, like just before a lane change. There's no need to speed up. He doesn't pay enough attention to what's going on around him. I want him to learn how to drive in the big city, but I think he's going to have to do it without me in the car.

I've been so busy for so long, it's the second time in recent weeks people be all, like, "OMG! Long weekend, guys! Have fun! Warm weather and shit! Yay!"

And I'm all, like, "What? Oh. That. What the fuck ever. I'd be happy to get a regular weekend for once." *goes back to tapping on a keyboard in his work cave*

However: Things will likely change soon. Give me a month or two, and I'll be complaining about a lack of work. :p

I wanted to go get a Slawdog Millionaire, but most of the city is underwater or clogged with people trying to get around the water and stalled out cars.

The staff at the assisted living/memory care facility where my FIL live completely ignored the fact he was nearly unresponsive to verbal commands, his face was drooping on one side, and he had extreme weakness in both arms and hands.

We notive it immediately when we arrived yesterday afternoon, and we insisted that he be taken to the hospital. His caregiver said that he normally feeds himself, but she had to feed him his lunch. That's interesting because ccording to the hospital staff his throat is nearly closed, and he can't take oral meds at the hospital. We suspect that he had another TIA which the staff missed or ignored.

He also has a severely bruised knee of which we weren't informed. We were told he fell out of bed about a week ago, but didn't have any sginificant injuries.

He's undergoing a variety of tests in the hospital.

Why does my whole life seem like I've been dealing with Vogons?

From Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy...Vogons are described as “one of the most unpleasant races in the galaxy—not actually evil, but bad-tempered, bureaucratic, officious and callous"

They are the bane of my existence.

I can sympathize. My wife's situational awareness in heavy traffic is beyond awful. She's a decent driver in bad weather, she does windy mountain roads just fine; but toss her in a mess of heavy traffic and she scares the piss out of me.

It would really help me meet your deadline if you tell me ahead of time when the deadline is, boss man.
