    WE MADE IT!!! Wooo, we're out of the Group of Death.

    The USA play the winner of Group H on July 1st, in Salvador, at 1pm Pacific/4pm Eastern.

    Our national team has long been a national joke. The only place where they would get a heroes welcome is Scotland.

    Canada didn't qualify for the later rounds, losing 8-1 to Panama didn't help.

    This is true, and it's unfortunate, because England in recent history has had a lot of big names come and go from their roster (including one of my teenage crushes, Michael Owen). What's the problem? Fitness? The team not meshing well? I keep seeing articles trying to blame it on the lack of investment at lower levels of club soccer.

    By the way, it cracks me up to see Steve McManaman doing the commentary after matches for ESPN.

    We have plenty of individual talent, greatly diluted by the number of top international players in our Premiership league, leaving a fragemented 'squad' almost held together by managers who don't speak the language, and/or don't understand teamwork. Bring back Brian Clough - The greatest manager England never had.

    Plus we don't spend a single penny on 'soccer' ;} Soccer is as 'Rounders'would be to a baseball fan.

    Steve McManaman and scoucers generally are very funny

    Good luck to all the teams in the next round.

    You know what's really sad about my post? I fact checked it prior to posting. Least I thought I fact checked it. Googled "Mia Hamm shirt off" saw a bunch of links and images and just assumed I had it right.
