I've never had the desire to see Avatar. Not even when I'm in a "I don't care what we watch" mood. One of my neighbors wanted to bring it over to watch because our TV is better than his. FTR, our TV is nothing spectacular, his just happens to be an old 19" analog. I said that he was welcome to watch it anytime he wanted, just make sure that I wasn't home.

I really like Ricky Gervais, but I couldn't handle the original The Office.
I really dislike Steve Carell (not funny), which made me dislike the US version of The Office even more.

The main reason reason for my not liking either version is they hit too close to home. I've had bosses that stupid, manipulative, & entrenched in stressful work environments where even the good employees spent most of their time looking over their shoulders.

  2. I had a giggle today reading the student newspaper on campus.

There was a "Chemistry is AWESOME" day this week. The new Dean of the College of Science, who would have been my boss if I stayed in that rat hole, volunteered to do the dunk tank. No one ever hit the trigger, so he just jumped in himself.

No dorky chemistry student could hit the target.

    HA! Neeeeeeeeeerds.

I'm kinda the opposite between Ricky Gervais and Steve Carell. I don't find Gervais unfunny, per se, but he comes off as a bit of an asshole in his humo(u)r and he's just not my cup of tea.
As for The Office, I only watched a few episodes of the US version, none of the UK's. I prefer Parks & Recreation. ;)

I can understand your feelings about Gervais. I'm old enough to remember when Don Rickles was a frequent guest on the talk shows, variety specials, celebrity roasts, etc. Everything I've heard & read indicates that IRL Rickles is a really nice guy. His style of insult humor always left me cold.

The last time I saw Rickles on TTS with Leno, Rickles told the band something like, "It's good to see black guys who have jobs." The camera did NOT show the band's reaction.

It's funny you should mention Rickles. I just watched a birthday bash held in his honor on SpikeTV that was hilarious.
I've always liked Don Rickle's humor, and Ricky Gervais' humor, to me, is no where as good, or even should be mentioned in the same circles of comedy as Rickle's.
Btw, Bill Cosby, Tracy Morgan, and Eddie Murphy helped pay tribute to him.

The only time I saw something involving Rickles that I enjoyed was an old clip from one of the talk shows.
Rickles was taking his best shots at a "rookie" named Richard Pryor.
Pryor topped everything that Rickles threw at him.
To his credit (I hate to say), Rickles took it well and showed a lot of respect for Pryor's talent.

Don Rickles stands out to me personally on the Dean Martin Celebrity Roasts as one of the highlights. Foster Brooks drunk act is my favourite usually on those but Don received some of the best roasts on there and could dish it right back.

Some of the "highlights" from recent comments fools have attempted to post on my blog. I have to give approval before they show and these are typical fare for what I see on there.

If my wife is going to go through the cookbooks to find new recipes to try, she needs to make a decison. And realize that it will require enough time for me to drive to one of the better grocery stores for the ingedients that out local stores don't carry.

  19. I've read reviewers making reference to Blazing Saddles in their comments about A Million Ways to Die in the West. They owe Mel Brooks a deeply sincere apology. Too much Seth MacFarlane monologue. I can handle crude and low brow when done right. This was not, IMO. Pity. Great cast, aside from MacFarlane, himself.
