Fashion trends that you could live without seeing

There was similar thread in TGP 4, and there might be already be one here (I didn't search for one, sue me).

What fashion trends are you tired of seeing?

I've tried to include some humor, but for the most part I really am tired of seeing certain fashions trends. I'll start with just a few of my gripes:

Eye glases with the rectangular frames.
You know the ones I mean. Heck, you might still wear them. About 12 years ago, maybe earlier, these frames were unique, kind of cool, & maybe even sexy on the right people. Then everybody started wearing them, from little kids to old geezers. Enough already! I'm actually glad to see the popularity of the old style "dorky" frames, which is says a lot about how tired I am of the rectangular frames.

Baggy shorts worn low to show a lot of underwear.
This applies mostly to guys. I think that this trend is also dying out, but around our "hood" you still see shorts-about-to-fall-down look, and it ain't pretty.

Skinny jeans on regulr sized people.
They're called skinny jeans for a reason, namely because they're for skinny/thin people. If you have to squueze yourself into your skinny jeans, you ain't skinny or thin enough. If you get a muffin top (love handles to us older folks) when wearing skinny jeans, you ain't skinny or thin enough. If your legs start going numb..........................

Older people who appear to have borrowed their children's, or even grandchildren's, clothing.
Get a clue, folks. If you go the mall, and the only people you see dressed like you are half your age or even younger, it's time to rethink your clothing choices. Your youth has passed, let it go.

GeneticShift Show me your everything is okay face.

I have a few of yours that I agree with, and a few that I disagree with.

I wear exclusively rectangular glasses. I have a long, round face, so the angles of the frames make my face look better!
I also have a few pairs of skinny jeans, and I'm definitely not skinny. I don't wear them all the time, but they fit into boots better and they make my legs look nice. If you're seeing muffin tops and love handles, that's a problem with the size of the pants, usually not the cut.

I've never ever understood harem pants.

This is something I've said over and over again this year at work: "Leggings are not pants."

Tights, sheer leggings, and running tights do not function as pants. I hope this fashion trend dies soon.

For me it's any time the fashion makes it hard to do what you are supposed to be doing are hurts.
I really don't care what people look like in general so if guys want to wear their pants low or woman want to totter around on platform shoes, more power to them.
However, when it takes that guy five times as long to do his job because he's constantly hitching up his pants or the young lady damages her feet then I get pissed off.
Just wear fashions appropriate to the situation, weather, etc.

I can't believe that I left off my number one gripe that I've had for years.

Four day/worn out toilet brush beards (that's what I call them, have no idea what they're actualy called).
I didn't like the one day shadow "Miami Vice" look back in the day (yes, I was old enough & had enough of a shadow to follow this trend, but didn't), and I really don't like the four day beard look. Keep in mind I don't mean a weekend beard, or a vacation beard. I mean the guys who intentionally trim their beards to look cool and/or trendy and/or bad-ass (hah!). IMO they look like shit, basically like a worn out toilet brush. It's simple, grow a proper beard, or shave. You can actually trim a proper beard fairly short without getting into the worn out toilet brush look.

EDIT: The rectangular eyeglass frames go back much further than 12 years.

Around here the tights, sheer leggings, & running tights as pants trend has never really went away. This actually ties into my gripe about older folks dressing young. I see a lot of women around my age intentionally going shopping in their 'workout' gear. I respect their efforts to stay in shape, but not their need to flaunt it.

On that line of thinking, if a woman is going to wear skintight clothing that leaves little to the imagination, she shouldn't get in a huff when a guy looks. I don't mean a lecher stare, I mean a simple look.

Guys are guilty as well. Guys, nobody wants to see your junk, OK? It wouldn't kill you to throw a pair of shorts on over your bike shorts when you stop at the store, or wherever when you're out riding.

I have to tell this story. A couple of months ago I was parking at Sam's Club. I noticed a young & attractive Latina walking with a couple of older women; she was wearing tights/sheer leggings and her shirt stopped at her waist. She had to go back to their car for something, and it was then that I noticed the fabric was so sheer I could clearly see her ass through her tights/leggings. I'm pretty sure that she knew she was 'flashing,' or at least I don't know how she couldn't know.

A fashion trend that might not still be around...

Women wearing professional business suits where the color was conservative (navy blue or dark gray with thin pinstripes), the jacket was fine, but the skirt was a miniskirt or the pants were skintight. I swear that some women must've had the pants specifically tailored to get the seam that far into their ass crack. Let's not forget the cameltoe. As a guy in general, I like women's legs & asses. As a businessman, I found the miniskirts & skintight pants inappropriate. I see a mixed message, "I want to be taken seriously as business person, but I want to show off my legs and/or ass as a woman."

    The '80s, baby!

Which included running shorts as casual wear. I admit it, in the '80s I used to wear running shorts much of the time. At least back then I had the legs & glutes to get away with it.

    ...

Also, yoga pants being worn for purposes other than, well, yoga. As in, the ads I keep seeing in Gmail for business appropriate yoga pants. It doesn't work like that.

Torn sweats, especially if the top is worn to intentionally show bra straps.

Jeans that look as though they need to be washed, even when brand new. I'm probably one of the few people who want their new jeans to look..............new.

Clothing with Ivy League university logos. Yeah, right, of course you went to Harvard.

Huge logos advertising the clothing designer. OK, your shirt is Hilfiger, so what?

Can't stand Uggs. Even worse, the whole Ugg + extremely short short thing.

Really, I'm not at all fond of short short shorts, as in shorts short enough that the pocket lining pokes out from underneath the fabric that's supposed to be covering the upper thigh. If it's the size of a cummerbund, you're doing it wrong.

Oh, and I'm totally sick of Crocs.

I have a couple that might get me thrown out of Texas.

Cowboy boots with skirts, unless the hem of the skirt reaches at the top of the boot. It's not a horrible look, just one I don't care to see any more.

"Daisy Duke" cut-off blue jeans shorts. Especially if they're worn with cowboy boots.

I live in a relatively modest, socially conservative town in upstate NY.
I was blown away by the tights and leggings on my last trip to the Big Apple.
Super thin, skin tight leggings that my wife might wear under a skirt.......are apparently considered pants for outerwear in NYC.
Not that there's anything wrong with that.:)

One I do not care for at all is something I saw frequently during my time pulling graveyard shifts at that one large retailer. The college age girls wearing shorts that are barely long enough to qualify as "sleepwear" much less something you should wear in public. My thoughts when I see that look turn very quickly to "There is no way my daughters are wearing THAT if they are living under my roof".

Affliction, Tapout, and Ed Hardy shirts on anyone is a fashion crime, but its a capital offense on any guy over 40.

LuluLemon is a Canadian company - sometimes it makes me burst with pride to see them sported around town. Other times I cringe with dismay. It averages out.
