Running the center knuckle on a finger on your dominant hand across staples = ouch
At least this is better than that time with the meat slicer. It hurts far less when you go beyond the surface cut and cut the nerves as well but takes way too long to heal.

Meat slicer cuts are the worst. I was actually up super early on September 11th due to a meat slicer cut; my mom wanted my dad to look at it and tell me whether or not I needed to go to the doctor. Now, of course, I will never forget that cut.

The on-duty nurse out in the hall looked at my cut and gave me the choice of going across the parking lot for stitches. "Yes" would have been the best answer but I chose "No" and dealt with it. Did give me a nice scar and small spot on my hands that feels slightly "arithritic like" now at times.

Which reminds me, the other time at that job I talked to the nurse for medical stuff was when my right knee shifted. I expected my body to be able to execute a standard sharp turn and my knee said "hell no" and shifted a good measurable distance with a distinct "pop". That dropped me to the ground and was enough pain (what it takes for me to use the term "pain" actually, anything else is just "discomfort") to bring some involuntary tears to my ears.

Praise Jeebus for talent in yoga pants... it makes going to the gym so much less tedious.

    ...

Actually, @MeltedMetalGlob is the only white dude in America that can pull off brown pants and button-ups with epaulets, leather bracelets and the whole Henry Jones, Jr. thing.

I mean, you and I would look ridiculous.

    ...

Wait, why is your husband excited about fannypacks? Only three groups are allowed to wear fannypacks: old people, metrosexual Europeans and People of Wal-Mart-style dummies that want to be called out for having a concealed handgun.

One of the major faux pas of carrying a concealed handgun--typically perpetrated by new folks and amateurs--is to put a pistol in a fannypack.

People with more experience palmface and refer to that type of setup as a "Slow Draw McGraw satchel" or the "lazy man's Shoot Me First attire."

    Not sure if serious.

Dude is Alton Brown. He's got a fantastic show called Good Eats.

The Mad Scientist in the Kitchen. I disagree with a few of the things he says, but in general he is a genius. Especially when he is talking about meat and fire.

My first thought on seeing his face was his statement about the instant oats you find in the microwave/budget oatmeal from Good Eats discussing oats - "I would't feed them to my horse."
Loved watching that show when I had both access and time for it.

So worth it, though. You'll walk away a much better cook.

    Alton Brown rocks!.

Good Eats was the best show on the Food Network, cooking mixed with science and comedy. Sadly, he shut it down a few years ago.

The Alton Browncast, his weekly podcast, is always entertaining (but not always food focused)

Alton is also the truly evil host of Cutthroat Kitchen.

He comes up with some of the most viscous methods of tormenting the chefs on that show.
    It's fun to watch.

The more said about Alton, the better. He knows more about culinary matters than most chefs I can think of.
