I don't think anyone would call them Lego bricks. I call them Lego.

As in: Who left the motherfuckin' Lego all over the floor!

No need for a superfluous S.

I hear that @ZombieSquirrel has constructed deadly weapons out of Legos. Who knew you could make scissors out of blunt bricks?

Holy shit, America, your house prices are cheap. It's too bad you don't have free health care and you shoot each other all the time.

It varies tremendously by region and location.

Places that resemble Toronto (Boston, New York, Washington, San Francisco) are probably about as expensive as Toronto.

Averaged out, though, prices are 60% higher here. Prices might be similar in some urban centres, but suburban areas drop out rapidly there compared to here. Much of the reason is that the market crapped out in the U.S. but not here (we may still have a bubble).

Some of the differences are astonishing.

For example, by chance, I was looking at what kind of houses were selling just outside of Phoenix (Mesa), and for $250,000–$350,000, you can can what would seem like palaces here compared to what you get for the same price. For that price in Markham (a regional municipality outside of Toronto that's smaller than Mesa), you can only get a condo around 700 square feet.

You'd have to go to small-town Ontario to get something similar, where you'd certainly lose the geographic advantages that Mesa has (e.g., proximity to Phoenix, etc.).

I think prices are lower in Mesa than in Timmins, Ontario, even. (Which would be a bit like living in Fargo. Though I'll admit I know very little about Mesa, or even Phoenix.)

One Christmas I really wanted a set of Lego(s). My father decided that I would enjoy Lincoln Logs more.

SFW?, you're probably saying. Forty-five (+/-) years later the disappointment is still with me.

  15. When all ya'll talk of legos.. all I think of is this..

Oooh, you should try Texas next! A buddy of mine is from Texas, and he and his wife were shocked by housing prices here. He says he would already be in his own McMansion there, while here he's stuck renting for at least a couple more years.

Sometimes you just have to say "fuck it" and risk failure and retribution.

Damn, I get to the point that I tire of the dancing around and putting on the best face and making things "just so"
I'm going to throw it down.

    Love it or leave it.
    Make a damn decision.

  20. Better yet. Try Syracuse. For a few hundred dollars you can get a whole house.
    But there's always a catch. ..
