Pointless Announcements

I was in Houston the night they "sucked it" and the Blazers took the series. Houston fans are much more adult like than Dallas fans, Esp. Cowboy fans, but it was a bar full of "we was robbed!" whiners. I much enjoyed myself.

 

Fans of Houston sports teams are well conditioned to having "almost" and "Maybe next year!" teams.

There are NO whiners like whiney-ass dallas cowgirls fans. Anywhere in the USA.*




* Some of the more rabid soccer fans, in Brazil in particular, win the prize for whining & crying. Canadian hockey fans come in a close second p) .

 

You were next door and no invite or anything. Sheesh.

Not this trip. Spent the whole trip trying to help my nearly 30 yr old daughter work through some critical life issues (is that an actual thing? Critical life issues?) Her father-in-law is a racists POS douche bag. In fact racists POS douche bag is the nicest part of his personality as far as I can tell. If my IP addy ever starts showing up as "____________ correctional institute" it will be because I have finally arrived at the decision that removing him from the gene pool so completely out weighs whatever punishment I might have to endure. The thought of him being in the same hemisphere as my grand children makes my skin crawl. Her husband, who is a very down to earth decent guy, has finally agreed that "Dad" can not visit the grand children without at least two responsible adults present. So I had that and some other issues my daughter likes to create for herself and then needs an ear to help her process a reasonable mature course of action to get out of whatever hole she's dug herself into. As a parent listening and trying to nudge in a general direction is much more effective then just explaining what you think is the best move. Her latest hole was deep enough both her E.O and her C.O. had drawn up transfer orders to GITMO for the next two years. After nearly eight freaking years how she can not see- "power struggle with person in power... really, really bad idea" is completely beyond me. But that's her. She's a very bright young woman... just out smarts herself from time to time.

So other then catching that game at a local watering hole with my S-I-L my trip's dance card was packed.

I did watch a little of some playoff game in the United Club in Term. E at IAH while waiting for my flight back to Merida but due to a call I received on my way to the airport regarding Bandit's health (one of my two best friends and constant companion for the past 13 years) I don't even remember which teams were playing, hell could have been replays or high lights from what I remember.

As it turns out the news I received was unfortunately a little sugar coated and upon arriving back in Merida I had to contact the Vet and make the "tough call." So now I'm down to one dog but at least Bandit is no longer suffering, which I guess he did pretty much all day everyday while I was on this latest trip. I've always been a "dog person" but I think it's going to be a while before I even think of getting another. Just too damn hard to let them go.

If anything the Rockets robbed themselves of that series. The way that entire series was played either team could have won in quick order with a slight increase in made freethrows or shots.
