I sometimes wonder if it's because it's the only power she knows she can wield, to say 'no'. ( wives in general maybe ) Otherwise talk to her about it. If she's anything like mine any talk of it will make her more uncomfortable, but it's still worth a shot.

 

I tend to think there may be many reasons.
I'm a wife. I've never withheld sex.
He, OTOH, has gone years without seeming to need or want it. I begged, pleaded, cajoled, lost weight, gained weight, was groomed well, bought sexy underwear, teddies, nightwear, hooker heels...nothing. I finally demanded that he get a full work up and it was found he was had low-normal testosterone.
He uses testosterone gel now and is now about a once a week guy.
I'd do anything for some romance and affection, though. He just is not the type. Many women do appreciate affection as a precursor to sex.

Seriously I'm sorry it's been such a struggle. There needs to be some compromise in every relationship. Even if romance doesn't come naturally to him, it won't kill him to try every once in a while. If nothing else, he should know what those gestures mean to you.

Speaking as a man who makes those gestures, and then some, it's far from the Aphrodisiac that it's proposed to be. My woman just tends to just relax when I do nice things for her. Somehow it always ends up with her asleep, and me not so much. Cards = sleep, massage = sleep, flowers = sleep, going dancing = sleep, etc. She does tell me that she's dreamed of sex afterwards, which makes it all worth it for me... ( to be fair, she's got a lot of reasons to be sexually restrained, from the drugs she has to take to live, to trauma surrounding sex ) But like it's been said before, there are myriad reasons for not wanting the bone.
