Some of you may have already seen this...but I just had to share.

    Talk about justice.

Without knowing the full story, my reaction is

lead, follow, or get out of the fast lane.

And this is coming from someone who during a road rage incident was a very small step away from
giving someone one chance only to move on, or get shot.

    I wouldn't call that justice.

    More like hubris.

Frankly I'd be interested to hear what @omega has to say about this, but I'm inclined to agree with @Chris Noyb—the left lane is for passing, as far as I'm concerned. If you're traveling slower than passing traffic, get out of the left lane.

I think the explanation she'd given for not doing so in one of the background articles I read was that trucks were traveling in the right lane, but it would seem more than enough time had passed during the filming of the video in which she could've maneuvered into a space between the trucks to get out of this asshole's way. His accident could very easily have involved her vehicle and she's very lucky it didn't, but that possibility would have been avoided altogether had she gotten out of the left lane. Furthermore, slick road conditions are certainly not optimal to be playing wannabe traffic cop towards an aggressive driver who's tailgating you. The dangerous conditions alone should have been reason enough to try to get as far away from this asshole as possible.

Well, sometimes there are people in the fast lane...going faster than the posted limit.
So they'll think they can't go faster "safely" (She was going 60, faster than 55)

I pass people all the time like this, you just do it and move on. Most I do is roll my eyes.

But this guy...he came up on their rear REAL close. That is reckless driving.
Second, he didn't have to go past them ...then go back & forth, back & forth.
Third, he took his hands off the wheel...and his eyes off the road.
Finally he didn't notice other slower cars quickly approaching his as he went faster.

He's the idiot, no matter the law or guideline.

I see many gunning their vehicles (especially trucks) so they zoom up to the next car in the fast lane.
Getting uncomfortably close to intimidate them.
They're just asking for an accident.

I try to get over as fast as possible...I don't want their stupidity/aggression getting me into a crash. (no matter who's fault)
And I don't drive slow at all...I'm quite fast.

DAKA DOING VERY NICELY, THANK YOU

Yeah well, 2 halfwits, there is NO excuse for not moving over to let someone pass, here in FL, BE CAREFUL, everyone is "carrying"

    This.

She should've moved out of the way. She seemed to playing the (dangerous) game as much as he was.

He should've waited for an opening, and then went around her. His driving also shows that he didn't how to properly handle a 4x4 truck with a high center of gravity.

Traffic in Houston sucks, basically from around 6:30am to as late as 10:00pm.
I get aggravated with idiots, sometimes I'm the idiot.

She was in the left lane because she was getting ready to turn left I believe. At the end it looks like she is in the left turn area. They have those here and down there in FL on the secondary highways. I do fault her a little because she was recording and driving at the same time as well, but not nearly as much as the guy in the truck.

But, I blame the pickup truck companies for trying to make race cars out of these big trucks to compensate for their owners frail egos. I blame the banks for loaning these idiots so much money to buy these things without a big down payment. I blame car companies for giving dealers more incentives to sell these trucks over other vehicles. And higher speeds on the highway aren't doing much to help with people being 'too busy' and have more free time, instead we give billions to oil companies in more inefficiencies because of it. It is exactly these idiot drivers who are the problem with America today.

I read she also claimed he had been doing that for maybe 4 minutes before she ever started recording. If true, that kind of throws out the 'she needed to turn left' argument. I doubt many people would claim that, in light traffic especially, you need to get over 5-7 miles ahead of time.

Do we know that he financed the truck? That his job didn't make the capabilities of that truck a tool he made use of?

Or is that just an attempt to politicize an interaction between two idiots who are just both clearly clogging up the gene pool no matter what their politics are?

None of us are genetically prepared to drive on highways, so we'll have to toss that angle out.

Some are more genetically inclined to be idiots though, no matter the environment. :p

Behavioural decisions are often not correlated to genetics though. Or, at least, they're difficult to attribute to genetics.

People worried about the gene pool shouldn't focus on people making bad decisions. They should focus on people using birth control and fertility drugs. That's where the travesties lie. :p

I guess that is probably true, though my comment about the gene pool was mostly jest.

Maybe we can agree that, if we are to base it on the behaviors in that video, they'd both raise idiots by nature or nurture. ;)

And he would have gotten to that red light 10 seconds faster. People think it is a race track out there, yet if 30,000 - 40,000 people would die in one day (total, not everyday) instead of spread out over the year , the mass media would be all over it with 'breaking news', 24/7 coverage, investigations into government officials, a 'war on bad drivers', etc... But nope, it will continue year after year.

This doesn't even point out the maiming that auto accidents cause. Permanent chronic pain cased by whiplash is a bitch. For all we know, this guy is now living a lifetime of excruciating, disruptive pain that has taken a toll on his family.

Yeah, he was an idiot, but that kind of life is a living hell. No one "deserves" that.

My point? We treat air travel like some hallowed experience. It seems people treat driving an automobile as being closer to riding a bike.

Don't tell that to many drivers. They treat driving as just as much a hallowed experience—an entitlement, even—and would likely be insulted.

To be clear, I'm talking about how they treat it, not what they think about it or how they respond to it emotionally.

How many drivers act like professional commercial pilots?

I think may of them act more like "Hey, I'm bring my shit through. Look the fuck out."
