    Just got one of these new-fangled smartphones after my last phone decided to run away. Interesting to see what not much money with a new contract will buy you now. The features it has seem like severe overkill for a phone to me but the 5mp camera will be a nice upgrade from my lost one. This should take some pictures actually worth something, and the physical keyboard paired with the touchscreen is good as well.

    Only 5mp? I have 13mp on my smartphone. It takes very good pictures. I love it because I always have a camera in my pocket.

    I get annoyed when people tell me they want to drop upwards of $500 on an DSLR. I ask them if they take pictures with a point and shoot or a smartphone already. "Uh, no." "You have a camera in your pocket and you don't use it?" "No." "What makes you think spending a lot of money on a DSLR will make you take pictures?" Photography is something you want to do regardless of the gear you have to do it with.

    It has a full physical keyboard in addition to the standard touchscreen, I was happy with that tradeoff. I think it does not record video but no problems at all with that personally. In my case I do use and strongly prefer my much more capable DSLR with a real lens. 5MP is a huge upgrade from the 1280x960 max my last phone had.

    My wife is ticked. (Not really, but follow me on this. )

    I was shopping for a secondary life insurance policy. Of course you guys have probably gathered that I need to lose a few pounds, I need to eat better, and I probably enjoy a few more drinks than a doctor would say is ideal.

    So when we applied, the initial quote based on height, weight, and medical history was $44/month.

    Then came the doctor's visit, where they do a more detailed interview, blood work, urine test, and a bunch more research on how healthy you are.

    After the tests came back they dropped the quote by almost 40% because, despite my poor habits, the doctors say I'm healthy as a horse. :p
