Food What did you have for breakfast?

Discussion in 'Tilted Food' started by Baraka_Guru, Sep 16, 2011.

  1. Eggs, sausage, potatoes, biscuits and gravy plus lots of coffee. Then, back to moving snow around.

I have to ask: What kind of gravy?

  3. Sausage gravy, of course.

My only experience with brown gravy at breakfast occurred at Frank's Diner in Spokane, WA, a few years ago. They make a fantastic dish they call Meat Loaf Benedict. I highly recommend it to all carnivores!

I didn't grow up with sausage gravy. My mother & my aunts used, and now my wife uses, bacon grease (drippins in suhthurn tawwk) in milk/cream gravy.

    Mmmm.....meatloaf.

I made myself an omelet filled with onions, mushrooms, sharp cheese, and veggie breakfast sausage.

What I call "farmers breakfast." Scrambled eggs, fried bacon, biscuits, and buttermilk gravy.

My wife made the gravy the way she usually does, except she used BM in place of whole milk. The gravy had a strong vinegar taste. It wasn't exactly unpleasant, just too strong.

She's not sure if she needs to adjust the recipe for BM, or if the BM wasn't fresh enough (sell by date was yesterday). Any ideas?

No, that sour taste is inherent to buttermilk.

Went to my favorite French bakery and indulged in an eclair, with velvety pastry cream and topped with chocolate ganache. It was total decadence, and I should feel guilty, but the hell with that.

We'll stick with whole milk for our milk/cream gravy.

I wasn't thinking when I wrote BM, never even considered it meaning breast milk.
