My buddy/neighbor has been having mouse problems, and suspected a rat or two, as well.

He and his girlfriend went to Galveston for 3 days for Spring break and when they got back they found two of their traps had gone off.

He said he had to bring the bodies over to me to show me the size of the rat.

The first was a decent-sized mouse, nothing to write home about.
The rat, though, looked the size of a freakin' squirrel.

He brought him over on a sticky trap pad. Kinda like flypaper.
The rat initially set off the rat trap and was injured by it. It got out of that somehow (probably from all the push-ups it learned from Gold's Gym), and blundered into the trap paper.
Then, it dragged itself *and* the paper across the kitchen floor through to the living room, where it finally died.

My buddy said it felt like it weighed 3 pounds.

After a 2-hour, titanic battle between my inner moral voices, the industrious guy with things to do finally bested the lazy bastard who didn't give a fuck and wanted to stay in bed.

Houston. IKEA, World Market and Whole Foods. LCH doesn't really have a wide variety of places that meet my needs in regards to light bulbs, yoga bags, and organic foods. :) plus, I was completely stir-crazy.

Have you been to the main Spec's store near downtown? Even if you're not much of drinker, the store is worth visiting. I no longer drink, but I can spend hours in the deli and the coffee/tea section.

    Google Maps

Nope. I'll check it out if I have time. I'll have stuff on ice, so I'll have to play it by ear.

Probably best to give yourself plenty of time. They have many stores, some larger & nicer than others, but the main store is totally amazing.

Give a shout next time you're planning to head this way. I'm almost as boring as watching paint dry (my posts are far more interesting than am I), but my wife is really nice (most of the time :D).

    That's a battle I fight quite often.

On another note, I'm being productive on being non-productive...or at least to have fun.
I'm attempting to get tickets for the San Diego Comic-Con this year.
    Wish me luck.

I remember when I could just walk up and buy a ticket.
But these days, you can't do that...you have to pre-purchase online. (Big Bang Theory had a whole skit about it)
Typically sells out in 15 minutes.

This year, they're doing it differently, to make it more "fair". (complicated is what it is... )
    • You have to pre-register as a member so you can buy tickets...uh, badges. (confirming everything under the sun and tons of authentication)
    • Then you have to wait until they tell you when to register...which they will not do until just a few days before.
    • People who've gone last year, have the chance to "pre-purchase" (about a week or two beforehand)
    • Then those who didn't...like me...are sent a registration number, and a link to the wait room. (again, not given until you get sent it)
    • You're supposed to get into the wait room ONLY today from 7-9am PST
    • You need to know your registration number to get in.
    • And your membership ID to purchase.
    • You are given a randomized number to be in "line" to purchase badges. (you can purchase 3 tickets...for 3 attendees including yourself)
This starts at 9am PST until it ends...
    • BTW...you need a member ID for each person you purchase a badge for (see maze of line 1)
    So again, wish me luck.
It's like I'm on some type of game show.
