Last night's performance—the second half, at least, the half that mattered most to me—fell well short of expectations. I blame myself, as I tend to, because I practiced none of it up until three hours before the concert, and that's my own damned fault. I know I could have played better, especially if I'd bothered to put the work in that I should have. At the same time, I know the rest of the orchestra could have played better. Well, some of them could have. Some of them couldn't. Both of these conditions are problematic, especially with a Brahms symphony on the program.

Still, I wish I'd done more.

    I also feel like ass.

My experience with musicians, especially good ones, is that they're usually overly harsh with themselves. Many times, the mistakes that they detect, go unnoticed by most of the people in the audience ( and I know a few top-flight instrumentalists and singers). Maybe you're being too hard on yourself, because you have such high expectations. In any case, I would never criticize anyone who can stand (or sit) in front of any audience and play an instrument as difficult as the violin. The overwhelming majority of us ordinary folk, would never dream of trying. I've learned that there is something very special inside of musicians that drives them to want to share their gifts and their passion with others. You're to be thanked for doing this.

Oh and btw, I think Brahms is awesome. I'd put his music 3rd on my list behind Mozart and Bach.

I hope that I might be fortunate enough to hear you play some day, @DamnitAll. I'm sure it'd be lots of fun.:)

Our next orchestra performance is in May, and you could probably make a weekend trip of it if you wanted to. If you can't wait that long, here you go. :D

You all are making me want to practice.

(So is Carl Sagan, who just dropped the last movement of Beethoven's 7th into an inspiring segment on the evolution of human consciousness. Rock on, Carl.)

For fuck's sake I have been trying to go to sleep for HOURS. Two episodes of teevee, the second half of Statham kicking James Franco's creepy ass, celebrating the month of may, turning on the fan to cool down, browsing reddit for an hour... Auuuuuuuuugh. I think I'm going to have to resort to nighttime cold medicine. The daytime stuff should have been out if my system hours ago, but who knows.

  9. Third night in a row I've had to call into Public Safety to request an overnight parking pass.

It's bloody Spring Break. This is ridiculous.

Oh, and I have work at 7:30am.

The things I do to make sure my group gets a good grade...

I've found that orgasms can sometimes intensify headaches due to the vascular construction.

    I've also found that I don't give a damn.

We had to go see my wifes parents. It wasn't stressful, but I've been in a pissy mood ever since we got back.

  20. I'm okay with diagnosing hardware issues that relate to the actual internal function of the computers themselves.
I am not okay with diagnosing hardware issues related to the friggin' power button that has the weirdest assembly ever (with four teeny tiny pieces that have to be just so otherwise the whole thing falls apart).
Lesson learned, kids; there is never such a thing as a 'free lunch.'

In related news, I might actually get home before 2am tonight.
    Might.

    EDIT: Nope. 2:10. Dagnabbit.
