I think Ms. Pac-Man was Pac-Man in drag. Unless it was his twin sister.
Seriously, they looked too much alike to be married.

Hi Remixer. I've not seen anyone psychoanalysing you. You'd made a blunt statement, then, generally, others got riled up, then you shifted context.

And looking at what I've written to you above, I did not say or imply that you'd had a "multitude of childhood experiences where you were discriminated against". I had referred only to your own analysis of yourself and drew no conclusions of my own, though I did agree with your own conclusion that such discrimination was wrong. I then got on with sharing my own background with women and sports.

I'm glad I did, partly because, in the last thread, you'd been open, and whilst I thanked you, I had not returned the compliment; and partly because you responded with the following gem:
    Firstly: respect to you :)
Secondly, A question: What if Sandy went on at least to continue the Muay Thai, and whilst doing so, got into playing the game 'UFC Unisputed'. At a certain point, she got to feeling like a fool playing as Brock Lesnar, or even Little Nog, and preferred to play as a character of her own sex and body mass/distribution. What if the game developers said 'dang ... we're ignoring an entire part of our market, and Sandy - thanks for pointing it out, and can we use you as one of the models?'.

Now if she came running in one day "Remixer .. Remixer!!!!!!!! Guess what!!!!!(sorry Baraka)!!!!" and breathelssly told you what's happened: how would you respond? How would you respond similarly and how would you respond differently than if you'd read it on a forum about someone none of us have met?

Talking about 'met' ... I'm in England, so I'll miss out on meeting you when you visit your sister. I don't know if London is ever on your agenda.

    Anyway, best wishes

Zen, when I explained my train of thought and reasoning on the feminism issue to you, the examples I made did not relate to me. I thought I made it clear when I stated my first disclaimer, and then expanded on the first disclaimer. I've had a very privileged childhood. Not because of money, but literally the worst things I experienced during it were my own screw-ups, which were the same type as any other normal kid at that age. I was never hit, I never had to starve, I wasn't discriminated against, I've never hated women, and I have no worse experience with a woman than a bad break-up with an ex.

My reasoning on the feminism issue was based on my own observations of crap happening to guys I knew, articles I read, personal research I conducted and thoughts I conjured up with that as the basis. Now, if you may have the impression that the things that happened to my friends affected me emotionally or mentally, they didn't. I don't know why, but while I can feel compassion for a person, I almost never feel with another person. Hardships people endure have no effect on me.

I can't put it any better way than that. I know there is quite a number of people who believes themselves in a similar mental position and they're wrong, but you can't help if you really are one of those.

Regardless, coming back to Sandy: I wouldn't have given a damn. Sandy and I were friends within the realm of martial arts restricted to my old dojo and fight shows. I was her mentor and I did my best to grow her into a successful fighter. She won the first and several subsequent fights and I was proud of her, as a teacher is proud of his student for doing well in the exams. There was nothing beyond that.

Now, if you want to talk about a female that influences me more than anything else, you'd have to pull the trump card, which is my fiancée. She loves to play games and she's dragged me into almost 5 of them in the past 2 years, because I largely stopped playing games by the time she came around in my life.

If she were to play UFC Undisputed and she saw female fighter characters available, being the feminist she is, she'd jump up and down like crazy (tends to be a bit hyperactive when excited) and tell me about it. My reaction? I still wouldn't give a damn. It's a part of the game just as anything else. Whether it's there or not doesn't really matter to me.

About London: I may be going there for a week in late 2012 to visit one of my friends. He lives in south London, I think.

Your disclaimer has been clear from the beginning. 'Been through it' and 'witnessed it' are different, as are "feeling with" and "feeling compassion for". That you almost never feel with a person, is, however, a new piece to me, and helps me get to know a bit better the man I want a cup of tea with at the end of next year; indeed, might not it be good to have a London TFP meet-up then, a gathering?

My own initial 'way' of understanding people was to walk a mile in others' shoes to see and feel with and from their position. Ironically, it was by walking in the shoes of those who know how to not 'feel with' those they feel compassion for, that I extended my choice; the first few times disoriented me, but I am glad I did. I do sound a loud fanfare for Lexi Peters and the female character models, but, whereas in the 90s, I'd have risked making mistakes similar to those in your description of West German education, these days I am less likely to. I confess, I was 'jumping up and down like crazy', but my fanfare is one of joyful trumpets, rather than War Horns of the Feminopalypse.

It also occurs to me that my fanfare goes 'Duh - duh - duh - DUH!' because Unreal Tournament has always had an equal number of female to male warrior characters; I've played it regularly since 1999, and have been surprised by games which didn't.

London isn't a place I have any business interests, so the trip there would be one for pleasure, meaning I have tons of free time. I'd like to get to know the other of the two financial centers in Europe and see if there's more than gray concrete and, in my view, ugly Victorian-era architecture. Definitely would love to attend a TFP get-together in London. I haven't heard any good things about the English, though, and not because I'm one of ze Germans.

I know, Zen. I've seen a good number of people who are always on the outlook to broaden their perspective and who seek to feel as much as possible, and I respect that since there are way too many cold, narrow-minded people. Here's another fact of mine: I read people extremely well and can often very quickly come to an understanding on the way their thought processes work. Women tend to get annoyed with, or dismiss, me for that. I believe I understand the general gist in how your mind operates, but that isn't a surprise, because compared to other people your mentality is wide open to see in your writing. I do keep in mind the possibility that your written mentality on these forums may be one elaborate farce of an alternative personality, so I will not come to a complete conclusion until I've seen you face-to-face and made my own audiovisual observations.

Also, I tend to be too analytical as well. Partly, that is exactly why I'm doing very well in a city like Kabul. Partly, that is why I will keep my reservations on people such as Poetry or Mixedmedia, until I had a chance to observe in a face-to-face manner and made my own assessment on what I believe to be true or not.

And just to underline what I told you in one of my first comments directed towards you, I'm an extremely open and direct person. It is exactly because of that, that many people don't believe me when I tell about myself. It seems, though, that TFP has a much better mentality towards what strangers state about themselves than quite a few people I have met throughout my life.

Regardless of the above, I understand your last comment completely. I also understand the principal thought behind why many people go all gooey about things like that. I don't share their enthusiasm on these issues.
