It's finally snowed here in East Texas. I'm met with my usual sense of awe and dread at the sight.

You keeping warm over there, @noodle? Any snow?

 

I've been invited to go snowshoeing Saturday with some friends, and this makes me very happy.
Maybe I'll actually (finally) get out for a bike ride of substance—farther than my commute to work or errand runs around town—on Sunday. It's been far too long since I've worn padded shorts.

 

Me: "I need a shot of...something. I'm walking home, something that'll warm me up."
Bartender: "FIREBALL WHISKEY!"


...I may regret this in the morning.

 

I'm under 3 blankets with a space heater and my fever broke after three showers and a bath yesterday. I haven't ventured outside to look but schools are closed due to the anticipated ice storm. Supposed to snow later. Being sick in it was kinda nice yesterday. I just curled up and slept... I was so feverish that I stayed nice and warm.

 

It's still "snowing".

 

You had the luxury of a fever to keep you warm? You *must* be rich! Touch you. *tss*

Seriously, I hope you're feeling better, @noodle.

 

I cracked open the 1/2" of ice on my car door handle and around the door itself (not kidding, I measured it) and waited 30 minutes with the defrogger running to be able to make it out to the liquor store for a small thing of Maker's (all I can get here) to make hot toddies later. It was motherfracking cold out there. I had to come back and jump in the bathtub for an hour.
It's supposed to refreeze again in a bit.

 

Yeah, supposed to be a low of 28F tonight.

At least you have the kittehs to keep you warm, @noodle. I've got a cardboard box from Amazon. An empty soulless box with a rictus grin plastered on it.

 

Well the morning went by quickly. I can only hope that the afternoon goes as fast!

I last took a bus 20? years ago in Portland if memory serves*. No clue off the top of my if or how this has changed, but there were zero options for living in Woodburn and working in Tualatin and then Beaverton besides driving my car.

*wait a minute, just remembered riding the local transit thing around this rinky-dink town a few years back with clients. Not sure if that counts though as that was exclusively to get the clients out in the community and was saving my fuel costs while on the clock.
