Can anything good come from the question....

Are you cheating?

A friend told me he thinks his GF might be cheating and was going to confront her. So I got thinking and thought nothing good could come from a question like that. I have had the thought myself but never asked the question.

If she lies and says no, any suspicion would still be there but now she knows you know or suspect.
If she tells the truth and says no, any suspicion would still be there but now she thinks you don't trust her.
If the worst happens and she says yes you get your heart ripped out.

Has anyone here asked? How did it turn out? How do you ask such a question?

 

I would not ask. I found myself in a position at one point where I was presented with enough information to want to ask, and knew it was time to end the relationship. If you ask, true or not, you don't trust them. If you don't trust them, you don't belong in a relationship with them. Even if it is not the case, and they aren't - something has occurred that makes you not trust them - and if you don't trust your partner - why in the world are you with them?

 

If it comes time to ask that question, you have to act like a barrister (attorney). Only ask if you KNOW the answer already.

 

I would agree that things are probably too far gone at that point for the answer to actually matter.
