I had a crush on the lead singer of Hanson. She was pretty.

    Oh, man. Where to start?

The list above had some good ones, though I actually kind of liked the 4 Non Blondes song.

I'd add some of my personal least favourites:

    1) "End of the Road" and "I'll Make Love to You" by Boyz II Men

    2) Anything by Hootie and the Blowfish, but especially "Let Her Cry" and their cover of "I Go Blind" (I was just looking at their chart numbers, and for some reason they were bigger in Canada than other places. Weird.)

There are others, I'm sure. But these are the ones that really get to me.

  6. Who Let the Dogs Out is not only one of the worst songs of the 90's, it could possibly be the worst song EVER. The problem with half of the songs listed is they're so damn catchy and earworm-y.

I hated MMMBop when it was new, but it came on the radio not long ago and I found myself singing along in a nostalgia filled haze. I have fond memories associated with TubThumping and I'm Too Sexy, so I just can't hate them.

I have What's Up on my MP3 player.

As should I. That song doesn't belong on this list.

Brings to mind the T-shirt hell offering they used to have - "I fucked the girl in Hanson"

This list is missing Sweat (A La La La La Long) by Inner Circle. Though I'm not sure if this was as popular in the US as it was in the rest of the world...

    This.

Also, "Show Me Love" is high on my list of least favorite 90's songs, as Robin S.'s voice absolutely grates on my nerves.

Maybe autotune could have helped her out.

    Oh, and this one:

    Ugh.

Ever since their 100 Greatest Guitarists list that put Jack White at #17, I've assumed that Rolling Stone lists are an inside joke that I'm not in on.

Top 10 lists are linkbait. It doesn't really matter what they put on the lists, no matter how much effort they put into it people will disagree. So, it's easier to just be highly opinionated, then people will object and link to the post, and your ad count skyrockets.

I liked that one Jesus Jones song...and those two Extreme songs. About it.

Bad song or not, somehow they're all attached to various pieces of nostalgia associated with my youth, and the transition through puberty into being a teenager.

I still listen to Ace of Base.

Music-wise I somehow skipped the whole 90's. Started dating, hubby is no music listener - got kids and played their type of music. I'm only now finding Robbie Williams...

Put Take That on this list, because I had no idea, what was going on there at the time.

Apparently, no one cool (or even musically literate) reads Rolling Stone anymore. My two votes for the worst songs of the 90s:

I admit, the second one DOES make me all nostalgic...but it's still a terrible song. The first one, I could only listen to the first few notes to make sure it was the correct one. WORST SONG EVER.

Edit-- I could probably also make an argument for several Nirvana songs, but no one would listen. I'm apparently the only 90s kid who didn't like Nirvana. Hmm.

Oh so sad. My high school experience would not have been the same without Take That and Robbie Williams. Or without Boyzone.

  20. I took the 90s off. Seems I didn't miss much.
