A milestone

You fit in well around here, and I appreciate your perspective.

I wish more newbies were so fearless I only bite when asked, after all, and I think that's true for most of us around here.

There's an old TFP saying...."Come for the pics, stay for the conversation"
Except now...there's not that many pics as before...and much more conversation.
BTW...that phrase is over a decade old.

Actually, I think we've become less stodgy...or better said, less "strike down from god"...there's a bit more discretion. (cred to the mods)
The big diff is that we don't have the volume or influx that we had before.
So the ones that are around these days tend to be the tried and true.

I'd like a bigger membership again, but there are burdens that come with that...and a different dynamic.

Then again, the web is a lot bigger and complex than in the past, there are bunch more distractions.
So who knows...
But I like those who invest themselves and participate...that's the thing.
Some can do that, some can't

Well, on the TFP...we have a set of 5 judges in ceremonial robes on a grand podium. (the marble is just elegant...)
Representatives for each new member hold up enlarged samples of new member posts before the judges.
This is to determine the credibility and entertainment value of them. (Your rep will provided for free...and make arguments for you.)

When a certain standard that each judge arbitrarily determines to their own values...they vote.
With a majority of votes...then a notice is sent out to the new member.
It is a great honor.

Friggin' @mixedmedia is a hard-ass judge...nothing gets past her.
@MeltedMetalGlob wants each member post represented in graphics.
@Barack_Guru needs full footnotes and appendices.
And @Plan9 has encrusted gold bands embroidered on his robe. (I think he goes commando under them...)
@Cynthetiq is the only permanent judge...thank god.

Don't even get me into the primaries for elections... (I can't afford any more bribes...ahem, lobbying expenses)

Man, look at the frumpy clothing...no wonder the newbs are sweatin' the panel.
We gotta get better clothes for these people.
They either look like a tramp...or they're topless like the supplicant in MMG's pic above.

And being topless won't get you anywhere here...we at the TFP have seen way too many to be impressed.
(unless you're Denise Milani that is...but still!)
