I have yet to really look at it. Veggie-Hippie-Apparent Riflemaster Husband (by all accounts, my husband can shoot pretty well) stashed it once we got home. It's a .22 rifle, but I don't know more than that. It belonged to Grandpa. My BIL got the hunting rifle, which was what I really wanted, cause honestly, out of all of us, who is most likely to go hunting? Oh well. Gotta learn to shoot the .22 first.

Awesome. .22s are a lot of fun, and once people stop being crazy about ammo, they are cheap to shoot. It is a great gun to learn on, that is what I taught me wife to shoot first. Mine is a Ruger 10/22, which is one of the more common 22s around for the last several decades. You'll have to post up pics and more detail when you get a chance. :)

He let me take a peek. It is also a Ruger 10/22. My uncle wants us to come shoot sometime. My husband liked shooting for fun once upon a time.

Yeah, but God only knows if it will ever see the light of day, even for fun. Personally, I think if it's going to be in my house, I ought to know how to use the damn thing.

Absolutely. If it is there you should at least know the basics for safety's sake. A 10/22 is an awesome first gun.

My wife loves to go target shooting. She hated guns and was afraid of them before I had one. A little education on gun safety and some range time and her perspective changed 180*.

I'm not afraid. My husband thinks I'm a little too eager, actually. But they're something I grew up around, tangentially, and never learned how to use. He's from a family where EVERYONE knows how to shoot--even his dad, who grew up in a non-hunting family, learned to shoot in Scouts. I don't think he gets my perspective of wanting to know more, as he takes his own ability/capability for granted.

I should get access to this too. I don't currently own one, but was looking into getting one again. Also, I'm moving to NY, the land of gun laws, so I could probably benefit from other people's experiences.

Just did a search on "blood play" for research purposes, as it comes up in the story I'm working on, and the 9th result was a thread from 4.0. Gave me a chuckle.

I was doing a search years ago in a college library on perceptions of women as they age and go XXX grannies. I almost got banned from the library computers. This was in 1999.

My 13-year-old niece is visiting for New Year's.

I just bought us a couple of tickets to see the stage production of Les Mis on Thursday. We're sitting in the orchestra section, centre, twelve rows back.

We'll be able to smell the gunpowder.

Neither of us has seen it yet.

I ought to put on real pants. I'm currently wearing my World Peace Pants (TM @mixedmedia). They are super comfy but they are in no way suitable for going out to a store to acquire more Japanese green tea.

Careful now... mine tried it, liked it, is mad skilled and now talks shit to my friends. It's like having a girlfriend that plays your team sport... but is actually good.

Them: "Hey, Plan9... you're running a little behind. Maybe you should call that designated hitter you sleep with and have her run your qualifier."

    Assholes.
