I've been drinking a lot of sencha lately. Using my Finum, I brew 20 oz at a time in a pint-and-a-half mason jar. I can usually get about three steeps out of the sencha I'm using from the local tea shop.

Teavana Tranquility herbal loose-leaf blend. It was a gift from a friend, and I love it.

We have quite a stash of various teas, mostly bags, but some loose. Yesterday I enjoyed Ashbey's Cinnamon Orange, it tasted like Bigelows Constant Comment with plenty of cinnamon. Yummy.

Been going to Teavana quite a bit lately...experimenting.
    Trying a combination of flavors.
Haven't landed on anything stable yet, but having fun trying.

After a break from hot tea, I'm back on the Mighty Leaf Green Tea Tropical. It's so delicious. I couldn't find Traditional Medicinals or Mighty Leaf anywhere local, and there is certainly no Teavana. So I stopped drinking hot tea, rather than drink crap tea. I need to smell my tea before I buy it most of the time.

    Try Amazon or their websites?

Adagio has great service, samples, and frequently runs codes for free shipping/$5 off, sometimes both: Adagio Teas Their Sencha Overture is very good, and I like their Citrus Mate as well. I also got a black tea sampler from them last time I ordered, and I like everything I've had out of it so far.

I went to the Kroger near me today and lo, and behold, they've started carrying Traditional Medicinals! What what?!
For all of my non-caffeinated needs, I'm golden! I heard a rumor that the Kroger in Sulphur may have Mighty Leaf now.
If not, I'm totally going Amazon.

Oh, yeah. Our division of Kroger carries TM. That's where we get ours. I can't make it through winter without Throat Coat and Breathe Easy.

Later today I'm going to try brewing two different Bigelows together, Constant Comment & Cinnamon.

The Kroger nearest us is totally lame; fortunately we pass by a very nice Kroger Signature Store when we visit my FIL.

Ours is actually a Fred Meyer, which is owned by Kroger. All the good tea is in the "nutrition" section, not with the normal coffee and tea.

Our Kroger is a training store in the 'hood.' The turnover for checkers & sackers is constant, about the only people who have been around for a while tend to be behind the scenes in the meat dept, bakery, deli, etc. The managers and assistant managers fall into the "Who did you piss off to get assigned to this store?" category.

We only have Kroger, Albertson's, and Market Basket.
I'm terrified of Market Basket. One of the Albertson's and one of the Kroger stores are like that.

That raspberry tea is delicious. It's a great non-caffeinated black tea substitute, and it works!

I've been reading about the health benefits of cinnamon. I wonder if cinnmon tea (sealed individual bags, Bigelow) is fresh enough and contains enough cinnamon to have health benefits?

Why not just grate a tsp of fresh into the hot water where you're steeping? I use Ceylon cinnamon, when I can get it, and a micrograter thingie, which would be perfect to do up cinnamon. Hrm... Good call. I would think that the tea would depend on how it's processed, as well as the sealing of each individual bag.

This is what I would do--the grated cinnamon seems to do better in hot water than pre-grated cinnamon. I'd recommend getting one of these: Microplane 40020 Classic Zester/Grater : Amazon.com : Kitchen & Dining if you don't have one already. Useful for cinnamon, nutmeg, garlic, parmesan, ginger, zesting, etc.

I need to try grating my own, we have a large container of cinnamon sticks that we rarely use (sometimes buying in bulk from Sam's Club isn't a good idea). I need to ask my wife about the micrograter, something tells me we have one in the kitchen utensils we got when my in-laws downsized.

I don't really make New Years resolutions, but I do intend to start drinking a lot more hot tea this year. It would help if I could learn to like it without doctoring it with milk & sugar  .
