I have to admit that the plot was really thin. However I found it to be effective on an emotional level. I think it created an effective sense of isolation and desperation.

The science geek in me kept noting that Sandra would've been dead for sure. But I still enjoyed it immensely.

Science geeks hate that she's not wearing a diaper--and that her hair is not sticking straight up.

I'm stupid about anything but the most minimal space stuff--I just love to stare at pretty things--but even I lifted an eyebrow about the proximity of the various space stations, when they are in fact somewhere over the countries to which they belong. About a million more things are wrong with it; think I'll go see it again on Sunday when the boys are at work.

It's Hollywood fiction, not a documentary, which is why it entertains me (though I have watched very entertaining documentaries).

I may be a science geek, but I rather liked Sandra without the diaper. :D

You're absolutely right, @snowy. It's Hollywood all over. I still enjoyed it!

And that is the very best part. You had fun!
As a side-note, it's been said (by an US astronaut who spacewalked) that the visuals were as close to seeing the real thing as has ever been faked for the screen.

And Chris Hadfield (recently completing his tour as ISS commander) remarked that this shouldn't be considered to be a training film.

I was afraid I wouldn't like it because of all the hype. Saw it in 3D and wasn't disappointed.

I saw it in plain old 2-D. I'm not usually a big fan of 3-D, but in this case I'll bet it was worth it.

I keep not going to see it again because of the weather. This weekend! I have cabin fever. It will be the perfect remedy.

We're getting the weather this weekend in the Northeast. I've been trying to get my wife to see it, but something always comes up. I keep telling her that it really has to be seen on a big screen to be fully appreciated. I think this movie relies so heavily on the visuals, that it'll be seriously diminished on a home TV.

It was the perfect film to see with my mother. It was a bonding experience for us, we keep returning to it in conversation. The first film I saw in IMAX 3D that was fully immersive and utterly worth it. I'm a space geek. It was a heck of a lot more realistic than "Space Camp". Really, what do you expect from Hollywood? It was a highly immersive, fascinating, thrilling experience.

IMAX is a GREAT idea. That must have been remarkable!

That would depend in the size of the TV.

3D was awesome. IMAX 3D would have been better but the cinema wasn't showing it in that format when we saw it.

I asked my spouse to come with me and he shrugged. Space geek sans the large IQ (me) plus not-space-geek. 'Gravity' on our TV at home will in no way compare to the theatre.

I'm sure it'll be OK on a large home screen, but it won't immerse you into the film like a theater screen will.

It was very good but no longer available on the IMAX screen. I paid more attention to smaller visual details, but I'm glad to have had the IMAX experience first.

I missed my chance to see it in IMAX, @Fangirl. I would've liked to try that experience as well!

It was a stunning movie. I do wish I had a chance to see it in IMAX. That had to be like a thrill ride at Disney World.
