It's starting to snow at my mom's house. It never snows here, hope I get my flight home today.

It got up to 14 C (57 F) yesterday. At lunch, I walked the dog, and neither one of us needed a jacket. I wore my cardigan instead.

The historic average at this time of year ranges between -6 C and 1 C (21 F and 34 F).

Oh, my sweet summer child! What do you know about fear? Fear is for the winter, when the snows fall a hundred feet deep; fear is for the Long Night, when the sun hides for years and children are born and live and die all in darkness. That is the time for fear....

w00t, woke up to snow and my request for a piece of fanart from an artist I love was accepted! Sometime over the Christmas holiday, I should be getting a custom piece of one of my favorite characters from the Naruto manga.

This south Texas boy don't like no cold weather.

Actually cold weather isn't that bad, but I do feel smothered when I have to wear layers of clothing, especially when I'm driving.

I have very nice ski gear. That helps considerably. Today, I'll likely be wearing base layer--shirt--fleece--ski coat on top outside, and base layer--pants--rain pants outside. The layers are all pretty thin and it's nothing I haven't worn to several football games already this fall.

That sounds both warm & comfy! I'm used to wearing shorts & shortsleeve shirts or t-shirts 10-11 months a year, except for the occasions when dressier attire is appropriate/required.

My biggest gripe with cold weather is the wind, I would be totally miserable if I had to deal with freezing temps AND a strong wind.

During the winters here (such as we have "winters" :p ) the days can be very pleasant once the sun has been out for a while, but when the sun goes down the temps can rapidly drop 30-40 degrees. When I was in college people would ask me, on a sunny afternoon, "Why are you carrying a coat?" "Because it was 40 fucking degrees when I got here for my 8:00am class!"

I apparently have to go out into the snow to fetch my vehicle, as my husband was forced to abandon it at the bus stop. Fun!

    Also a good choice.

  16. This is so much me today. Just got home to a nice toasty 25f (@ -4C, @Baraka_Guru :p).

Our drive back included torrential rain and lightning through north Georgia and Tennessee, snow and sleet through Kentucky and Ohio and just gloomy cold here in Michigan. Still made good time, @17 hours actual drive time, plus fuel and meal stops. I do not sleep in moving vehicles, so now is nap time.

  20. My daughter has many excellent qualities, including being a wonderful travel companion. We had nary a disagreement or a cross word through the entire trip. But then, we rarely have any of that anyway. In fact, she said during our last fuel stop: "I really like spending time with you. I want to do it more." Love, love, love my girl!
(and to think, my kids gave me my screen name all those years ago:cool:)
