There's a girl sitting a few seats down from me at the bar. Her hair is pulled up into one of those messy top knots. She's wearing a tight heather gray T-shirt and when she lifts her right arm I can see a small patch of sweat stain. It's kind of sexy. She's drinking a Cigar City in a can. Can't tell which one from here.

That's the ticket, people. Keep 'em coming.

I am looking at a party of people. Looks like they just came from work. There are ten of them at one table, mostly broken off into pairs. Talking. Several of the men have untucked their colored oxford shirts from their chinos. I remember those days. Leaving work early on a Friday with a bunch of coworkers to go drink. Happiness. They look happy.

 

What I see around me is a bunch of "Not Florida" and it does not include QW, who hasn't gotten home from work yet. Road weary Grumpy is grumpy.

 

Tell me what you see in your refrigerator. Whenever I leave the house and come back, I look to see what they left me.

 

Haven't unpacked the hazmat suit, yet.

 

Sitting at a stoplight and next to me is a bus from the nursing home i did my first clinicals at in my first semester of nursing school. Seems like a long time ago. The windows are tinted. I see a brown wrinkled hand with a ring on it. Right hand, though, not a wedding ring.

 

I see a grey IKEA tabletop with short legs, topped with a wireless keyboard, a Dell monitor, an awesome huge-o-mongous Asus monitor displaying my dissertation, my iPad, speakers, router, a lamp, some bills, Assessment of Children: WIS-IV and WPPSI-III Supplement, and a mouse.
Unbearably white walls, with interesting shadows on the texturing.
An organizer with drawers that apparently someone had been trying to get into, as there are papers sticking out.

And a spotted, furry nose surrounded by white whiskers with black bases. One of the eyebrow whiskers belies the curiosity regarding candles.
The stripes are bold, the eyes are clear-gold, with wide black pupils.
The feet are massive things that pat my face and occasionally smack the keyboard, and the fat belly is draped across my arms as I type.

There is a red blinking light on my wireless router. *sigh*
The blinds to my right are open, revealing a grey sky and condensation.
The cold fireplace beckons for warmth.

I see a clean, well organized store that is, if anything, in better condition than when I last saw it 10 days ago. I see 2 stacks of backlog paperwork that I will NOT deal with today. I see a 20 oz of hot coffee that is my current best friend. I see a deceptively sunny day through the window.

 

I just took few moments to see my 2 year young son sleeping peacefully on his back with his hands folded and palms under his head.
I see frozen soil glittering in sun as far as I can see through out our place.

 

I am sitting sideways on my sofa and i see a stack of books, notebooks, binders and my lecture notes on the floor and the oval coffee table on my right. Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing Success and my Mental Health Nursing textbooks are open in front of me to pages 20 and 6, respectively. All of the lamps in the room are on because it is always too dark in here. Too often i look up at the clock on the wall in the kitchen which is on my right. I need to stop writing and get back to work.

 

I am in the garage and I see a 4l60e transmission in a million parts

 

I'm watching all the little birds flutter about outside my window in this brutal cold.
