The Walking Dead

  1. I hope she shows up again somewhere.

I also hope that she'd be smart enough to figure out who those people are/were.

I really enjoyed last night's episode (and I didn't think I would). Last week when they showed the Governor coming back I definitely wasn't looking forward to it. Him returning just brought back memories of last season's horrible finale. But I always find it interesting when bad guys turn into good guys or vice versa. That being said, I wouldn't necessarily shed a tear if he were to get sliced up by Michonne's katana.

I'm doubting Carol is with 'that group' because I think we are still in the past in the governor's timeline (part of why it would have made no sense to jump back and forth to the prison storyline last night). I do think Carol will show up, but at the most dramatic moment possible. Keep in mind too that she has never laid eyes on the Governor.
I think much of the reason we have conflicting feelings for The Governor/Philip/Brian is that the actor, David Morrissey sold it so well. He pretty much carried the episode, which is no small feat.
I liked too that they are fleshing him out as more than a one-dimensional, bad guy-psycho. The apocalypse has nearly killed his spirit (though many might have preferred that he flat-out died) and we are seeing his re-birth so to speak, in stumbling across people who take him in, including a girl-child reminiscent of his dead daughter.
I would be very surprised to see him want to make nice with Rick and Co. No matter what, he sees them as the reason for Woodbury's demise, the death of his dream.
His reuniting with Martinez, his former #1 is probably bad in that being in an armed, aggressive group will probably snap "Brian" out of his domestic bliss state (not that the zombie attack wasn't a good start) and into his combat stance with the veneer-of-nice-guy on the surface.
As they say, leopards don't change their spots; if anything, what he's gone through in the parallel time period to what Rick and Co. had at the prison, has probably made him more capable of atrocities than in the past.

So basically what happens when good people do bad things??
    They don't necessarily stay bad.
And there may be certain situations that they do bad again.

I find that things are rarely black & white in real life.
If you watch closely with open eyes and mind...and get as many sources as possible.
    It's actually quite fascinating.

    Good story arc.

  5. Now what am I going to do until February???

Sunday was mine and DaddySquirrel's special time. Relaxing on the couch with a bowl of ice cream while watching The Walking Dead.

Looking forward to season 4 whenever I actually get to watch it on a decent screen or video quality. Not going to bother with the free streaming options for this show with their slooow speeds or even worse when they want me to use IE.

  8. Did Judith really die???? I watched Talking Dead after and they mentioned her, but didn't confirm if she was dead or not. I was hoping that it was the blood of someone else and that someone grabbed her and ran. Since the carrier is still there, i was hoping one of the little girls ran off with her. The carrier was too heavy and awkwrd for them to manage.

Pregnant ZS can't handle dead babies right now. I got teary eyed when little Megan got bit. I don't even want to think about Sophia and everything Carol went through.

Maybe Carol and Lillian will find each other and start a support group.....

February 9th is soooo far away. Holy shit! I'll be a MOM then and can watch TWD with BabySquirrel.

I know. I specifically thought of you when I debated posting the gif. From my blog: Since the official AMCtv recap says that Rick and Carl find “Judith’s blood-soaked baby carrier” we are going to have to definitively accept that this episode brought the demise of Hershel, Judith and The Governor, as well as most of the Governor’s people.

Worse, the guy running the show now is wanting the story to hew closer to the comic book whenever they can work it in. This is how Judith died in the comic book:
That said, we saw no body. I'm not optimistic, tho. :(

  10. :-( Well, if she died in the comic, we can only assume she's dead in the show. I assume that since we didn't see the body that the show makers don't want to be that gruesome. Viewers probably wouldn't like that. It's a reality though. I keep thinking about maternity wards that must have been ambushed when zombies went crazy in hospitals. i'm sure people tried to protect them, but there's only so much a person can do with a hoard of zombies looking for some treats.

I can't tell what is happening there. Is she getting eaten? Did someone shoot that woman while she's carrying the baby? Who is that woman?

I've been meaning to read the comics, but haven't made it to the library yet. I know they're there.

Oooh....and good point in this blog.

She was UNbuckled. What kind of walker would have done that?????

    I HAVE HOPE!

Well, it's always good to have hope and realize that the writers may be messing with our heads.
That is Lori Grimes with baby Judith trying to escape the Governor's assault on the prison. He shot her and the baby at the same time. The Governor in the comic was FAR worse than the TV Governor.

"Bleeding into the car seat" is my least favourite explanation. Lilly finding her is my favourite as she's a mom and there would be heightened emotion to mine, given she just lost her own daughter. It's as you've probably noticed, going to continue to be a running theme on TWD that children just get "adopted" when their parent/s die.

  12. I forgot that Lori lives longer in the comics.

I wonder if they think that the tv viewers are too sensitive to see a baby die. Sadly, it would be the reality during a zombie apocalypse.

Really need to read the comics so I can hate the Governor more. I hate him so much that I would probably punch the actor in the face. David Morrisey should be proud that he created such a character that people want to punch HIM in the face.

Glad Hershel is gone, I grew tired of his preachy sermons.

I would have preferred to see the Governor eaten alive by Zombos.

The annoying little kids redeemed themselves by shooting the army lady in the head.

I cheered when the mud Zombo bit little Meghan. She was freaking annoying just like Hershel.

I would have liked to see Martinez live longer, him and Daryl would be a badass team.

If I had to guess I would say that Judith is probably still alive. However, having her around hasn't added very much to the plotline lately and just reminds the audience of Lori.

I was hoping that michionne would hack off the governors arms and legs so when he died he would just be a zombie lying there unable to move.

I agree. I wanted the Governor to suffer more (alive) and then be a zombie. I feel like we sort of got cheated on that one (though again, David Morrissey, the actor who played the guv, is starring in other TV projects which I think he was hired for while working on season 4 TWD so it may have been this season's time constraints/ real life intruding--to a degree).

herschel was one of my favorite characters, sucks he wont be on the show anymore. i'm glad they are all split up and on the move again, thats when this show is most interesting, no where to run no where to hide. this season has been a bit dull imo, but this last episode sure made up for it.

Season 4 News – Series return date, Carol’s back (and Judith, too?) and the Sanctuary comes into the world of The Walking Dead

From the Walking Dead Episode 408 ‘Too Far Gone” Half-season finale (Cr: AMC)

The meme above is a bit harsh on poor Maggie and Beth Greene but hey, a bit of levity to deal with the trauma …of having to wait until February for the Walking Dead season 4 to pick up again isn’t so bad, right?
I’m glad to report (or re-report, more accurately) that the creator of The Walking Dead, Robert Kirkman, is hinting broadly that the baby “Judith Grimes” character a/k/a Lil’ Ass-Kicker, is still alive.
The show will return for the second half of its fourth season at 9 p.m. on Sunday, February 9, followed by a new episode of Talking Dead at 10 p.m.

From the Talking Dead, Lauren Cohan (Maggie Greene) and Scott Wilson (Hershel Greene) discuss the death of Hershel’s character. Note the genuineness of the final gif.
    Small spoilers ahead:
The Walking Dead’s Robert Kirkman Dissects Midseason Finale, Teases What’s Next

Will there be a time jump or will the second half of the season pick up right away?
Kirkman: There’s no time jump. We wouldn’t do that. It’s going to pick up pretty much to the minute of where we left off.
Is baby Judith really dead? And considering that you stayed so close to the comics in all other aspects, why didn’t you choose to go the route that would follow her death in the comics more closely?
Kirkman: In the comics, this was the moment where Lori and Judith Grimes died. The story has already been changed by having Lori’s death happen a little sooner… I really like the idea of the comic readers being like, “Wait a minute, Judith was supposed to die here!”
Judith and Lori die in The Walking Dead Comic Book
Maybe she’s dead, but if she’s alive, that changes the story in some interesting ways moving forward as we go into some of the other stories from the comics that happened after the prison where Judith wasn’t present.
It’s fun to think about how she could potentially change those stories if she is alive.
She certainly could be dead. There’s a lot of blood in that car seat. (Blood on car seat = not Judith’s blood)

What was behind the decision to have The Governor not ultimately claim Rick’s (hand) as he does in the comics?
Kirkman: There are a lot of logistical problems that come from that. Story wise, it’s something that I feel like works in the comic…but is more difficult in television just because I’m able to have things move in between panels (in the comic book) that Rick wouldn’t be able to move with one hand believably (on TV). It’s just not something that we felt was right for the show.

TVGUIDE – Walking Dead Spoilers for Season 4, Part 2 via Robert Kirkman
    1) Carol will definitely (Melissa McBride) return before the end of the season; 2) The Sanctuary, which was discussed in that radio message, will come into play; and 3) Via flashbacks, there will be glimpses into the lives of our favorite characters, likely including Michonne to get an answer about this.

Something happened on this show that pissed my sister off and she has sworn she will never watch another episode. Someone died, I gather. She was kind enough not to share the specifics.

I hope the story becomes less repetitive in the future.

It was good, just not great.

  20. 1) I wish I had today off so I could be at home watching the TWD marathon. Then again, I think the first 3 seasons are on Netflix and the 4th is on OnDemand. I could do my own marathon.
    2) I neglected to show y'all my awesome Christmas Present from DaddySquirrel

FINALLY reading the comic book stuff so I can be a REAL fan!!

I'm having difficulty reading it...or much of anything. I can't get comfortable these days long enough to focus on a book.
