Going to have to agree with Plan9, even with the typo in his post. I've been around the block enough times to navigate it with my eyes closed and not even half of the men I've been with have had D/s or S&M tendencies. Much to my disappointment, let me say.

I mean, if I can't make a guy haul off and smack me, that really means they're deeply vanilla or at least in hardcore denial.

Though I will admit that I've found that the men who enjoy anal sex the most also tend to have the most tendency towards engaging in D/s or S&M inspired acts. Not all of them, just most of them.

My initial statement was about "most" guys, and my second statement (the one you quoted) talked about the first statement being true for the male "anal sex" demographic.

And yeah, I'd contend it is the majority in that particular group.

 

I think you're wrong, and I understood the distinctions you were drawing. For the group "men who engage in heterosexual anal sex", I'd say that the minority belong to your subset of "get off on inflicting pain". For that to be true, anal sex would not be the sole avenue to satisfy that kink, and we'd see a lot more male-inflicted sadistic sexual acts in a "normal" relationship. I fail to see how the sadism would begin and end with anal and wouldn't, as Plan9 has already pointed out, extend to other acts, like oral sex.

My point was not about them getting off on it, but enjoying it nonetheless. I'm a pretty dominant guy with some sadistic tendencies, but my partner being in pain from getting screwed can't get me off by itself. I do enjoy the first bit, though.

I disagree with you entirely. I'm one of those guys and I highly value mutual consent in every aspect.

I don't see the issues with generalizations, unless they can be shown to be quite simply false.

While as a matter of rhetoric in a debate it is generally seen as a logical fallacy, generalizations can be quite true. Now before you go and repeat your statement that I put all males in the same shelf, I said "most" and any generalization includes a minority of exceptions.

Stereotypes are in many cases the bad guys, as they provide biased language and, mostly, negative connotations with a generalization.

I believe most men to be more on the dominant side by nature, but current, especially Western, cultures have turned many of them into a more submissive and moderated variety of man. EDIT: I also believe the feminist movement of the past generation has caused more harm than good and that the en masse rise of more dominant and more abusive men is inevitable, and definitely not a good thing. Though, that's a whole can of worms in its own right.
