1. We've had very few donations over the year. I'm going to be short soon as some personal things are keeping me from putting up the money. If you have something small to contribute it's greatly appreciated. Please put your screen name as well so that I can give you credit. Click here: Donations

Never have had much use this "holiday" myself. I suspect that Thanksgiving will be in that category this year as well.
The good news is that I start work at 2200 Thanksgiving night this year rather than 1900 as I did last year. I had the oh so fun task then
of active crowd control during that black friday nonsense; I am mainly playing cleanup this year after the mob does the bulk of their pillaging.

I guess until somebody starts writing decent Thanksgiving carols, and the retail sector figures out how to make billions on turkey and stuffing, we will just have to put up with Christmas starting the day after Halloween. I love each holiday for what it is, but I gotta admit, I am fucking sick of Christmas by the time it finally comes.

Xmas should be a December thing, period.
I think 24 days is more than enough time for negotiating logistics.

You want to sell during Thanksgiving or after....go for it.
Just don't put the Xmas items out until it hits 12/1.

My grandmother managed a place called The Remarkable Bookshop, with not only all the books but tons of great knick-knacks here & there.
And she got sick of it all.
Why, because she had to in August go to all the venues to review and purchase items for the holidays.

All the little doo-dads to make you throw up.
And if you like it, that's cool...I like it too...but imaging if you had to deal with it half a year.
And see the crap...as well as the good.

Me? I don't start shopping until my birthday on the 20th.
And I do it all at once. And I get the whole sensation for my worth then.
But when I worked retail in a mall? Damn I detested those songs by the end of the month.

  6. Devil's Advocate: Christmas stuff kind of has to be out before December. If someone wants to decorate their homes and starting on December 1 and have it last for 24 days, they need to be prepared with the items they need. It probably doesn't need to be on the shelves in October though. Two weeks should give people enough time.

However, I think it's weird that it's not even Thanksgiving and I have a friend who is already done with her Christmas Shopping for her kids.

In my opinion you should plan a party for her. she will definately like the sudden surprize.

lol, I thought about that before, she hates parties. Especially where she would be the focus. On the other hand, for the past few years our company Christmas party has been around the same weekend as her birthday...
