The Walking Dead

Discussion in 'Tilted Entertainment' started by cynthetiq, Oct 8, 2011.

  1. I think that was only our perspective and I'm not sure Hershel even noticed. I'd have to watch it again to be certain though.

I'm assuming the lady was too sick to even think about the door, but yes, the people who are well should always close those doors.

Do you think the father (assuming it was a father or older relative of some sort) knew that that kid was dead. He was pretty adamant about Hershel not going into their cell insisting that the kid was merely resting. Also, do they have a "gun policy" in the prison? It seems as if the gun mishap could have been avoided. It's like the guy didn't know what the hell he was doing. I don't want it to turn in to woodbury, but are there proper "classes" for these people when it comes to defense?

Well Hershel was going down the line of doors closing every one, and then he skipped the dead blonde lady's door. He probably didn't see she was dead, but still he should have not interrupted his task, it only takes 1 second to close the door.

I'm pretty sure the dad with the gun knew his son was dead and that's why he didn't want hershel to look at him.

I looked at that scene again. He was going down the line diligently closing the doors. But just after closing the second door he saw Sasha's feet sticking out of her cell, indicating she had collapsed. He took on a look of shock, grabbed his lantern, and walked briskly (on one leg, mind you) to her to help her out—walking by the third cell (with the dead woman) without even noticing anything wrong. He essentially beelined to Sasha.

    My thoughts:

    • Herschel is old, over-exhausted, and stressed out: in other words, he's prone to error and oversight.
    • Someone he cares about is on the brink of death, and he knows he can help her out.
    • Maybe the dead woman was relatively okay before and quickly deteriorated at a rate unfamiliar to Herschel.
    • Either way, he didn't know the woman was dead.

Anyway, I thought this was one of the best episodes in the series. That was some edge-of-my-seat climactic shit.

Scott Wilson totally rocked this episode. His 99-y.o. mom liked him in it, too.

You guys can make all the excuses you want for Hershel. His negligence got people killed.

He was useful twice... for cranking out hot daughters. It's been downhill since then.

  9. Uhh...medical training. Sure, it's for animals, but it's a lot more than most of them have. The medic just isn't level headed enough...which is weird since he's military.

I was being facetious. If it weren't for Herschel, way more people would be dead, and it isn't just his medical knowledge I'm taking about.

  11. Hershel stepped in for Dale as the father figure. I love the character and Scott Wilson is all kinds of awesome.

Why DO farmers create such beautiful beings? And steel workers for that matter (can you guess what MY daddy did?)

Well yeah, he's Rick's surrogate dad. Without Hershel, Rick may have never come back from crazy-town. He's the wise man of Prisontown. Gonna miss him whenever his time comes.

he's useful because he is the ground in the camp. he brings humanity and tries to keep the camp from turning more more salvage than it already has to be.

  14. I'm attached to Glynn and Herschel, but I fear they will be gone soon.

He's generally good for forcing people's hands, making them listen to reason, and helping them make choices.

He who and they who? None of the characters from this episode died at the end. I just watched the promo for next week and they are alive and well-- for now.

The governor. In the beginning he was with the black guy. When he woke up he was all alone.

  19. They left him. I saw the tire tracks. I also watched Talking Dead afterward where they interviewed the governor. They talked about how the character was just so defeated and were the other guys right in leaving him behind.

I hate that I am so sympathetic towards him. He's an ass, but looks so pathetic...Especially around that little girl. It's so sad. The death of his daughter made him CRAZY.

I will, however, be VERY pissed if the prison welcomes him into their safety after what Rick did to Carol.
