At this point, I'm more concerned about my foot. Apparently I have pes planus, and we're going to rule out a stress fracture based on some mild metatarsalgia.

    Disappointing (think Otto).

I bought a Pink Floyd seat cushion, thought that I done well. When I researched it I found out it's from the Division Bell tour, and originally included the cushion and a storage bag. I only got the cushion. Either way it ain't rare and/or valuable. I might as well just use it.

In the basement due to tornado threats. Several have already touched down in a line almost straight southwest of here, and are moving northeast. Already some severe damage in the area I grew up.

We even let the cat (Dharma) in the basement this time. ;)

I've had WAY too much personal experience with tornadoes for one lifetime. No need to tempt things again. I reluctantly sat in the basement and stayed there until several minutes after the sirens were off.

Thanks to you both. The worst is now almost entirely east of me and getting to be north of me, so we seem to have weathered the worst of it. I have lots of friends in some of the areas that were hit, so hopefully they are all safe too. And the danger isn't completely past this general area, it is moving fast towards the south end of the city. The Bears game has been stopped and they are cramming the fans under the stands for safety.

Tornado touches down in Illinois - Yahoo News

That is the area I grew up. Still have most of my wife's family in that area. Many of them were on a trip out of town, so right now everyone is ok, but no idea if they have damage and won't know until late tonight when they get home.

It's barely raining now, we are in good shape I think. Still have to go assess things from outside, but all my patio furniture is still there and the worst appears to be a couple things knocked over.

Scary stuff though just northeast of me. They said a tornado just touched down in Frankfort and the worst of the storm is just SW of downtown. Anywhere it touches down there it is going to really cause damage. It's not like out by me (or especially further out than me) where there are lots of fields and open land so often they touchdown and don't do much damage.

Glad you're safe and OMG you have a cat named Dharma. I'm hoping its from the old TV show Dharma and Greg and not Lost. Either way, sweet name for a cat.

So you named one pet from a TV show and brought the other home from work?

I'm a dork in that way, too. I knew there was a reason I liked you! All of the D&G reruns are set to record on my DVR at home.

Borla, glad to hear that y'all made it OK.

    _____________________________________

I still have dark thoughts about a former boss. I nicknnamed her Psycho Bitch (ladies, don't flame me, the women in the office called her the same).

She covered her massive inferiority complex with an even more massive superiority complex. The phrases "I don't know," "I'm not familiar with that," etc. never left her mouth, maybe never entered her twisted mind. If she didn't know something, she would never, never admit it, she would her best to bullshit her way through any topic. No idea was as good as her idea, and it wasn't unusual for suggestions dismissed by her to resurface months later as her ideas.

Pyscho Bitch made many questionable hiring decisions, often going the unanimous advice not to hire that person. She would later make comments about what lousy employees they turned out to be. Many times I had to bite my tongue not to reply "Uh, who's the fucking idiot who hired them?".

She had a problem with men. The only reason I kept my job is I was one of the few who gave a shit about doing a good job. One time she had to choose between two temps, male & female. The guy was intelligent, hardworking, & quiet. The girl was lazy, and spent too much time talking & distracting other people trying to work. In normal conversation every fifth word she said was a cuss word, if she got upset it was impossible to tell where the cussing ended. After getting everyone's opnion, majority vote for the guy, she kept ghetto mouth girl, a big mistake that turned into a larger mistake.

The guy & I got along very well. We had a lot in common, and enjoyed conversations (on break & during lunch, let me say) that went above the 'usual guy talk' such as sports, cars, etc. Psycho Bitch couldn't handle it. One educated & at least semi-intelligent guy (me) intimidated her, two guys smarter than her (we were) was too much. If you think that I'm flattering myself and misread her, no, not at all. Everybody in the office noticed & commented on her attitude. One of the girls put it most succintly when the 'keep one' decision was still open (open, my ass), "You know she ain't gonna let your new friend stay here, she's scared." Yeah, I knew, everybody knew.

Once she twisted something around in her favor, it became true in her mind. She deluded herself into believing, truly believing, whatever embellsishment or outright lie she created.

I could mention another serious fault of hers, but that would put me on very thin ice with some TFPers.

For the past week I've been meaning to write a whole bunch of comments or responses to others' comments. Several times I started a longer comment only to then be unable to finish them.

Work is leaving me way too exhausted to go into in-depth discussions and arguments.

So I've been lurking this week.

And am now probably going back to lurking for the next couple weeks/months.

It's time to rumble in the jungle.

THIS DOCUMENT IS THE WORST, but I don't have time to totally redo it.
