  1. I am 32 years old. I am in a committed relationship. I am pregnant with this man's child.

Marriage isn't something either of us particularly want, but we will be going through the hoops to become domestic partners for sake of our child. We may get married down the road if we get tired of his mother pestering us to do so.

I don't know what to call him.

I feel as if I am too old to call him my boyfriend. He's more to me than just my Baby Daddy. I sometimes refer to him as my partner, but it confuses people. I don't care if people think we're in a lesbian relationship, but he does.

So if your significant other is not your wife or your husband, what do you call him/her? Do you prefer not to label your relationship?

Current girlfriend? I usually just refer to her as "the woman." Or her nickname.

In conversation, I just use her first name since other titles are incredibly pretentious.

When necessary, I refer to her as MY WYFE! since that is what others expect. Social camo.

I call her, my wife. Many years ago, when we were first married, I had trouble calling her that.

Now? I could care less. She is what she is...

I usually call @Lordeden my boyfriend, although it does feel a little high school-ish sometimes, especially since we've lived together for over three years. No real interest in marriage, although it's been discussed for tax reasons.

One thing we've run into since working together is customers always assume we're married, and refer to him as my husband or me as his wife. We usually just shrug and say "close enough."

I refer to her as "my wife"
I call her using a word which in her mother tongue means Mom

  8. Mine varies. Usually it's by their name, any nickname that I might have for them, 'my lady(friend),' or 'my woman', usually in that order of frequency.

I agree with Cinn - 'boyfriend' and 'girlfriend' seems really highschool-ish.

If I ever decide to sell my soul get married, I'll refer to them as "my wife" with more frequency than anything else, short of their name or nicknames.

I refer to Mrs. Levite as my wife. She and I both call one another "Baby."

In relationships prior to my marriage, I always referred to those girls as "my girlfriend," and we used used various pet names. The major three relationships were "Love," "Sweetie," and "Honey."

Oh--I feel I should specify: in everyday conversation, and with people who know him, I call him by his first name. When I'm talking to him directly, either his first name or "baby."

Now I'm trying to think of things I can use besides "boyfriend." Gentlemen Friend sounds nice, but not really accurate.

    Milord would seem appropriate.

    Don't you mean "MAI WAAAAAAIIIIIEEEEEFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF"?

And here I was thinking this was actually going to be an obnoxious significant other nickname poll.

Guess that'll have to wait for its own thread.

I almost always call her "wifey" directly, unless the occasional first name use happens in serious conversations.

When talking about her with others, I always refer to her as "my wife".

We are technically married under Islam, but it's kinda dubious until officiated. Neither of us gives a shit about official status, though.

  16. Someone I know calls her sig other her "manfriend." I giggle at that every time I hear it.

Other ones I've heard are "my dude" and "my boy/man".

Talking directly to them, my most oft used turn of phrase is 'lady' (even though some of them definitely didn't deserve that title) or just their first name/nickname.

I started calling my husband my partner before we were engaged; after a year or so, and passing the 25-years-old mark, calling him my boyfriend felt juvenile.

In my NaNoWriMo project, there is a lot of "my lord husband" going on. It's a little hot.
