Halloween 2013

Here is my (homemade) costume from yesterday.

I was a script kiddie. No one got it.



The back of my shirt says, "Behind 7 proxies".

 

My daughter was some thing from some thing that nobody got, as well.
Which, obviously, I still do not get.

 

Trick or treating is not part of the culture here and many traditional folks feel like there is currently a "war on Día de Muertos" and the influx of US or other cultures of children and adult dressing in costumes other then traditional Día de Muertos get ups is a rather warm topic of debate for many. My group of friends, both locals and ex-pats, have Halloween parties. Last night we went to the ex-pat party and this evening we'll go to the Mexican party. Last night was in a huge house and the hosts had every room made up with decorations, it was rather amazing. "M" was given the "sexyist costume" prize. I'll post pictures after she returns from her traditional family Día de Muertos gathering, I didn't go as one of my dogs is really not doing well. All the photos are on her phone.

Last night's party started at 7:30pm and ended around 11:00. "M" really hadn't been to any "gringo" parties and was a little shocked that mostly it was just people standing around having a few drinks.light food and talking while some light music played in the back ground. She mentioned "how would you know it's a party if all the people were not in costumes?" Tonight we will attend a party at her co-worker/friends house and it will be loud, start around 10:30-11:00 (even though the invite states 9:00) and people will dance, 'hoop and holla' and sing karaoke all night and it'll likely end around sunrise.

I'll try to post photos of both, there's quite a contrast.

Turns out posting photos of the party last night is a tad problematic. Almost all the photo have other people in them and I do not have permission from them to post them here. I have a couple of "M" alone and she said "yes, you can if you want" but there was a long pause in her answer and frankly I didn't take it as really something she liked the idea of, more of a "if you want to then I'll let you." since she doesn't know anyone here and really doesn't understand what this site is I decided not to post any of her. Her costume while sexy, sexy pirate winch, didn't show much flesh.

No, it's not me, but I have been to some parties...


It is real cheap and easy to make that costume though for next year. Don't wear it if kids are trick or treating at your house though. The police might show up not wearing costumes.

 

I'd rather be the naked chick leaning against the bar minding her own business than the obnoxious twit making stupid gangster hand gestures in front of her. But maybe that's just me.

 

I don't understand the remarks quoted in the article- Here"s the naked bitch... Why is she a bitch? Because she naked? Childish bullshit in my opinion, if so, I say. In the words Don Henley- "I'd like to find you're inner child and kick it's little ass, get over it."
