Only if you'll waive your "no guns" stance long enough for me to shoot out the tires of bad drivers. I think it is a worthy excuse.

    :p

My main laptop for work would not turn on last night. Won't turn on this morning. Just clicks a couple times and then nothing. Probably only 6 months old. Awesome.

  8. Been negotiating a contract on behalf of our client with a major software services vendors for the past 3 weeks. Savings of over $15k per month retroactive to Oct 1 if executed before the end of the month. The vendor just told me there's a change to their procedures, essentially we need to start over. fucking pisses me off

Fortunately it is still under warranty. And since it wouldn't even power on there weren't too many things tech support could ask me to do that I'd already done 6x, like they usually ask you to do. They are supposed to send someone out tomorrow AM with a new motherboard and whatever the part is that the power supply plugs into. Hopefully that takes care of it.

at 2am, hubby woke me up by trying to cuddle me. I startled awake so badly that littlegirly awoke as well. She was on a perfect trajectory to sleep through the night. Now she is back asleep, but I can't. Trying not to be angry right now but I really desperately need sleep. I've been working 12-hour days.

Gentle slumbers genuinegirly. If not tonight, than tomorrow. I know how tough it is to get through the day exhausted. Soon, littlegirly will give her mama some much earned sleep--all the way through the night. This first year is a test to see how long you can manage on next to no sleep. And somehow, you can and you will. Take care of your sweet self.

Boy, classmates are really melting down on facebook over yesterday's exam. I didn't think it was that hard. I don't get it. After supposedly 50 million hours of studying, why did they not have a grip on that material? The professors told us, 'don't memorize, focus on understanding concepts' which was somehow construed as 'don't focus on details.' Some details are important to a concept. It's knowing which details are important that is the challenge but it's made pretty easy for you in nursing because you have your ABCs - airway, breathing, circulation - in that order. They are always your top priority so, of course, if a detail has something to do with a person being able to breathe or keeping their heart pumping you ought to, maybe, take that into consideration. It irritates me because they are just lambasting our peds professors who I happen to really like.

What I take away from this is that I'm a dead man when I next have to go to a hospital because those are the folks that are going to be trying to keep me alive.

Don't worry, we're not even dialing 911 until we're sure they can't help.

Hey, don't abuse 911 that way. Everyone knows that you only call 911 when McDonald's forgets your XL fries in the drive through. Or when you're stuck on the toilet again because your legs created a seal.

The Dell guy came yesterday. They sent him out with both the power input (place and wires where the cord plugs into the laptop) and the motherboard. He felt it was the power input not the motherboard, so he switched that first. Fired right up and it started working fine so no motherboard swap. He was in and out in less than 20 mins, so that wasn't too bad. Other than the fact that it killed two days of travel for me.
