I've done it with a few girls and I dont think it was the physical feeling of it that was fun. It felt pretty similar to regular sex. I think mentally it was hot to be doing something a little dirtier. The woman seemed to really be enjoying it though.

As for receiving, I have never done that. I don't mind a little rubbing around that area while getting stroked or a bj, but have never been able to bring myself to asking for some insertion.

 

I have enjoyed anal in the past, and I'm looking forward to trying it with my current boyfriend. It does make things more intense for me, but it's not something I can do every day. Since the man is rather well-endowed, it may never happen with him, but I don't know until we try.

I'm a fan of it occasionally, but it's not something I'd do all the time. My current partner doesn't find it appealing, so we haven't tried it. If done safely (lots of lube, condom, slow pace to start) then it's fun and can be pretty intense for the receiver. It's worth trying, but I'd start alone if I were you.

 

I would echo all the points above - it seems to be much more mainstream now than it was as I was growing up. I don't know if it's more common than in the 1970s, but talking about it is certainly more common.
