I've never seen a NFL contract, but my understanding is they are some of the most complicated legal documents known to mankind.

Here is the standard NFL contract, as required by the CBA. It is 6 pages long, but obviously there would be attachments for incentive for performance, etc.

I routinely see contracts quadruple that length. Obviously length does not equate to complexity, but if you read through this I don't think that you'll find it overly complicated.

Maybe you mean the CBA, though, which is a whole lot longer - as in 300 pages. Here it is in case you're interested:

That said, I don't think that the CBA is all that relevant to the Freeman situation now since it doesn't appear that Tampa is dumb enough to try to claw back any of the money due him.

Raise your hand if 1/3 of the way through the season you had the Cleveland Browns picked for first in the AFC East. :p

And they're owned by a future supervillian, Jimmy Haslam.

  7. I wish I could have enough confidence in the Bengals to say something snarky....but I can't. Not after the debacle that was Sunday.

Steelers are 0-4 though. That's nice.

  9. Lions at Lambeau without Calvin Johnson. I've got a bad feeling about this mission.

I know. But Megatron hasn't caught a lot of passes this season.

  11. But the threat he poses opens up the whole Lions' offense. Without him, they are impotent.

I hate to post this, but........

The Texans showed that they're a team on the way down, while the cowgirls showed that they might be a team on the move up. Three points? That's embarrassing no matter who the Texans played.

A lot of folks took the 4 pts and Houston last night, bet they're not happy about that this morning.

  18. I feel soooo much better this week than I did last week.

Bengals beat the Patriots winning streak AND Brady's TD streak. I'm MUCH happier. I would still like an offensive line and a I'm not that satisfied with the QB.

I hope that those "fans"/assholes are caught and receive the maximum punishment and fines. Harassing a player directly is one thing (not something that I would do), but going to his house and including his family is totally out of line.

Kubiak announced that Schaub is still the starting QB, which is no great surprise, but his comments left the door open for a change. I hate to beat a dead horse, but I think that Schaub is clearly showing an inablity to deal with pressure. If Schaub flounders against the Rams, even Kubiak will know it's time for a change.

I think that Kubiak is a good coach, but he is sometimes loyal to a fault (anyone remember Frank Bush?). I can see him getting fired by the Texans, then going on to be a great coach after learning from the mistakes he made with the Texans. I'm not suggesting that he should be fired, but expectations are high given the Texans' level of talent (yes, I know that fans and the local media tend to overrate their teams).

Enough about the Texans.......Which team has surprised you the most so far this season?
