I'll also say, from my friends experience, make sure you make up your mind on what you want.... she got a dragon with her birth year on her mid back, she didn't know what she wanted and to add more stress it was her first tattoo.... and it looks like Spyro, and it took two six hour sessions because she changed her mind so many times....

They're just like any other art form: If you're displaying them, I'm going to judge you based on them. The vast majority of tattoos I see are terrible. The rest, I like.

    i <3 ink.
i have a few hours embedded in my skin now, and will prolly have quite a few more by the time they drop me in a hole to rot. but my personal favorite so far is my guardian angel on my back. she's been a labor of love and will more than likely be "in progress" for a long time to come.
(would post a pic of her, but i need more posts! i'll come back to this...)

i really don't care what anyone's opinion is on my ink, i do it for myself and myself only. plus i am a bit of a pain junkie. in fact, i have pierced my nipple 4 times now!

I don't have any tattoos. It's not because I have anything against them, I just can't figure out what I'd put on myself to exemplify my outstanding, interesting, and handsome character... I really can't find anything sarcastic enough

My dear lady has a new upper back tattoo with a Batman theme. It's pretty cool, maybe I can get her permission to post it.

  9. Punk? No.
    Alternative? No.

Cool? That depends on the person, the tattoo, and (sometimes) the meaning behind it.

I agree with most others in this thread; Tattoos are a very personal thing, and shouldn't be done for anyone other than yourself. If you get a tattoo at someone else's urging, you're doing it wrong.

I don't have any ink. I'm not as completely against the idea as I used to be, but it's going to have to be something with pretty radical significance in my life in order to earn a permanent place on my body.

Meh. When I was 16 (39 years ago), I got my first (only) tat - quite small and completely hidden. Still, in those days, such things were unheard of - particularly for 16-year-old girls. Today, not so much. I think the whole idea has gotten a little ridiculous, and most of what you see is either way overdone, or really badly done.

That "alternative" aspect of tattoos is now the lame norm.
