Average is such a low standard. There's at least a dozen people on this board that could explain it and do the math (and a few that would correct their grammar).

Musically, it's not my thing. As a cult, even less.

Haha. Sorry. I'm at work letting random snippets of songs drift through my head.

I can safely say that I know the band exists but I have never listened to their music.

The one thing that bugs me about Juggalos has little to do with Juggalo culture (let's face it, aside from a few random videos, I don't know anything about them other than they are groupies of a sort). The one thing that bugs me is the word (name?) Juggalo. It isn't a good sound. It grates on me and makes me want to lash out. Perhaps that is the point.

It just doesn't roll off the tongue in any way that is pleasant.

    :D

    Juggalooooooo! Haha.
It originates from a live show. Back in the day.
The story goes that VJ used it to address the crowd during the song the Juggler, it had such a positive response that they've kept using it.
    More trivia,
Another rumor goes that the "hatchetman" that they are known for. The symbol they use as a company logo for Psychopathic Records (Psychopathic Records - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)
Was originally created by Joe Utsler (S2D) in a cafe on a napkin because they were on the way to do the deal & realized they didn't have a logo.

I have read this with interest.

Back when I was a university student, I was one of the black leather, long hair, heavy metal crowd. Living in central London this was easy to do and accepted, but visiting provincial towns with that look was a good way to freak out the locals.

I knew a few that wanted to get "in" with the biker crowd, seeing that as being a more hardcore version of the "metal" crowd, and therefore somehow more true to the ideals.

What was interesting is that the people who were actually into bikes were welcomed with open arms and were soon part of the group. The ones that wanted to do it because they wanted to look hard or cool were shunted to the dark edges of the clan, and ended up hanging with the equivalent of the 10% of Jugalos mentioned above.

Talking to people that got involved in the violence related to English football hooligans in the 1980's there seems to have been a similar progression. People who love the thing at the centre are decent and reasonable. People who like the badge of an underclass being able to be used to incite fear into "civilians" are a useless pond scum.

What often happens is that the 90% can't understand why people hate and fear them, and the 10% hate and fear the 90% even more than the public hate and fear the 10% - for not being genuine, for not "getting it" and so on.

It wouldn't surprise me to find that if you took your Ausie hatchet tattoo to Detroit, and walked up to the 10%, they'd stomp your face so hard it would hurt.

    None of this is news.

Try reading Hunter S Thompson's Hell's Angels book. It will enlighten you on how groups like this work, and what happens when YOU think you're in the group, but THEY think you're a tourist.

Well the 10% aren't what I'm looking for. I believe there are good people at the core of this moment. I'd like to see if I'm right.
I know I'm looking at the music through my Aussie filters, and I have no real clue what America will be like. If the Juggalos aren't what I imagine, then I'll come home.
My tattoos still mean the same to me. They aren't just band promo tats. No words, no facepaint, no dark carnival clowns...
Just a hatchetman placed into another picture.
On a bottle that a dragon is rising from, on the scythe of my grim reaper.
    I'll post pics one day

Ha. I love Rebel Wilson, Geneticshift
Do you know what show that was?

I remember when I was, oh, maybe 18-20 years old that it was really important to have a favorite band, to know that that band was just great, to talk about the band constantly, all the time, and to do my very best to convince everyone (or maybe just someone) the MY band was the best band EVER!

Whether you (or I) like ICP or juggalos or not, the phenom will be a transient thing.
For better or worse, transience is part of the nature of pop music.
Like one of my current favorites says -- This too shall pass.:)

Oh. Never heard of it. Any good?
Sounds like some kind of middle management based sitcom?

It's ridiculously hilarious. I think some of the episodes are on youtube, if you can't find another way to get your hands on them. I love it so much.
