    DamnitAll If you know what you were wearing at the time you encountered the poison ivy, consider throwing it out or at the very least wash it separately from anything else. The oil will remain on your clothing and cause greater issues if you don't wash it. Even then, it sometimes is difficult to remove.

    I had poison ivy three years ago. I was weed whacking and evidently hit some ivy. I was wearing old deck shoes and shorts. I ended up throwing the shoes away. The oil was sprayed across my ankles with some up my leg. Even some drops hit my inner thighs. Very uncomfortable to wear socks for about two weeks. I found some flesh colored spray on calamine lotion which was soothing but not sure it much to help it go away.
