Been back on my Paleo diet as allergies are just out of control. last night was Almond Crusted Salmon, Baked Sweet Potatoes, and Sauteed Spinach. Was pretty good, especially for a new recipe.

Do you consume any dairy products on a Paleo diet?

    Hi Misguided!

There is no dairy in Paleo. I have allergy/sensitivities to dairy/wheat/gluten, so this is a nice way to help try and avoid those foods in my diet.

    From the Paleoplan.com website:

" The Paleo diet mimics the types of foods every person on the planet ate prior to the Agricultural Revolution (a mere 10,000 years or 500 generations ago). These foods (meats, seafood, organ meats, eggs, fresh vegetables and fruits, plus some nuts and seeds) are full of vitamins and minerals, antioxidants, fiber, beneficial fatty acids, and low-glycemic carbohydrates that promote good health. The Paleo diet doesn’t contain refined sugars and grains, dairy, trans fats, high-glycemic carbohydrates, and processed foods that often cause weight gain, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and many other health problems"

A more complete food list is here: Paleo Plan Food Guide

    Hi back Amonkie,

Thank you for the answer. I didn't know what you all were allowed to eat.
I have allergy symptoms due to dairy, so I went one step further and went vegan. I also gave up all wheat/gluten, and all processed foods. If I eat it, it's because my woman or I made it. It works for me, so I'm happy.

  5. There's a BBQ place in the town where S works. The veggies are sooo good and I like to eat their sauce on my veggies. Also, ALL the cornbread you can eat!!!

I will eat ALL the Cornbread.

    Being pregnant is fun!

    ^^ That sounds delicious.

I don't know what's for dinner...we've fallen into the bad habit of going out if we stay late at work (and we stay late a lot.) I'm craving some fresh veggies. And cornbread.

Tonight we're having cheeseburgers, french fries and fruit salad. We've got little ones staying over tonight, so gotta serve something they'll like.

One of Sig's friends is taking us out to the Golden Corral Buffet for dinner tonight.

I'm not sure I've ever been to Golden Corral, I don't usually do buffets, except Sunday breakfast sometimes.
    I'll report back afterwards.

No idea. I'm not cooking, nor do I have any idea as to what's in our fridge.

    Dinner Last Night

Salad bar was good, with romaine, iceberg, spinach, radicchio, lots of fresh veggies, cheese, fruit, deviled eggs, the usual stuff and more. I had some really quite good bacon dressing on my salad.
From the Mexican section I had steak fajitas with sliced peppers, onions, grilled whole jalapenos, spices. No sizzling plate, but quite good, really.

I tried a couple kinds of wings a piece of baked fish, a small piece of OK meatloaf but the made-from-scratch mashed potatoes were too watery, with that dreadful "brown gravy."
The bread pudding was not half bad.
Except for the last two items I managed to stay pretty close to my low carb semi-paleo plan.

Others in my group said good things about the cornbread dressing, baked and fried chicken, chili, the pot roast, fried catfish and pecan pie.
Not so much on the ribs, steak, and asian section.
There were a huge number of sweet choices for dessert, including a chocolate fountain.

I don't go to this kind of place very often. The food, at least what I tried, was good.

And there was a huge variety, with plenty of healthy choices that could be made, whatever kind of eating regime (low fat, low carb, paleo, vegetarian, etc.) one would choose to follow.

But the place was loud and lots of kids (kid's buffet was $2.49) running, and I mean running all over the place, like they thought it was a playground. A People of WalMart crowd. Nearly everyone was well over weight to downright obese. Sad and depressing.

There were good choices available, but nearly everyone was just shoveling.

Yep. That's pretty much any buffet restaurant for you.

What makes me really sad is when it's a good buffet, like the one at Spirit Mountain Casino, and people are just shoveling in this BEAUTIFUL prime rib without even tasting it. Ugh.

So, our Costco now has an organic section and they are carrying TruRoots Ancient Grains pasta. Made with quinoa, brown rice, amaranth and corn so now I have a non gmo, non gluten pasta. We have tomatoes growing in our yard and will be making our own marinara sauce. It's going to be great!

Just had an okay steak at the local hawker. They're new.

Their Mac 'n' Cheese side was better than the under seasoned steak but only just.

Tempted to wrestle my way into the kitchen and show 'em how it's done.

    Going home for more homebrew.
