    Baraka_Guru, I think we're working with different definitions. To me, "unparalleled" means "unique" or "exceptional". Her writing, as I've already pointed out, is unique if derivative. We're talking about her imagination, which is unparalleled, unique and all snowflake-y. Then again, so is yours.

    That's pretty much my definition. I don't think Harry Potter is unique outside of its sensationalism and revenue generation. I don't think Rowling's imagination is exceptional.

    Let me put it this way: If asked for an example of an author who is an exemplar or paragon of imaginative fiction, someone provided "J. K. Rowling," I think that would be particularly groan-worthy. There are so many better examples. And, as I've indicated, some would consider her a terrible example. I, as I hope is clear by now, think she's not a good example.

    I'm not denying she's imaginative. She did some cool shit with wizards, mythology, philosophy, etc. I just don't consider her work exceptional in that regard, in large part because it's not that original.

    It's one thing when you blow a load prematurely. It's quite another when you negligently send a 5.56mm round off into the night. Whoops!
