You mean more shots. Because the first shot was totally avoidable/retarded and the protest shots are equally stupid.

I'm surprised we're not protesting/rioting here in Seattle... we like ourselves a good riot for some reason. Must be 10 months of drizzle we get

 

Checking out the news and shit, things seem to be pretty quiet. I know I am.

Moderation is the key. People can enjoy all the wonderful things in life - alcohol, sweets...bacon - and still be healthy. Trick is to stay active and not indulge yourself all day long every goddamned day. Even then, sometimes people are just unlucky, but from what I can tell (in my admittedly limited experience) about half of the people on the med-surg unit of your average hospital are there for preventable diseases that cause suffering and the presentation of sometimes unthinkable secondary conditions. People don't think 'liver failure' and necessarily consider edematous testicles swollen up to the size of two cantaloupes, for instance. 'Heart failure' doesn't make people consider a battle to keep their legs from rotting away from the inside out.

But, I am jaded and cynical already. Surprise, surprise. Doesn't mean I'm not going to keep at it because, for me, ultimately, it's not about how they got there, I just want to help them as much and for as long as I can. It's not until I get home that I start thinking about the big picture.

Going back to bed. I shouldn't be up writing this shit.

 

Had a friend that posted the Sanford police scanner last night. Sounds like it quieted down after that.

In other news, the power came back on around 3. The air conditioner did not. I just got it working. Yucky.

You can see the flames clearly if you play with the settings in the RAW file. I just increased the clarity a wee bit and left the rest untouched for this aside from some cropping.

 

I'm headed to Edinburg, Texas this week... anyone have any recommendations on local attractions I should see?

I'm stuck there over the weekend, next weekend.
